Call for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position funded by SERB at the Dept. of Biological Sciences, IISER Kolkata (Walk-in interview on Oct 17, 2025)
Project title: “Studying the impact of population fluctuation in microbial eco-evolutionary process by combining theory and experiment”
A project-funded JRF position is available in the lab of Dr. Dipjyoti Das (IISER Kolkata). The project involves handling of bacterial culture, bioinformatics-based data analysis and physics-based mathematical modeling of population dynamics.

• Remuneration: As per Govt. (SERB) rules.
• Tenure: 1 year from the date of joining (extension to next year may be possible depending on the availability of fund and satisfactory performance)
• Basic Eligibility Criteria: M.Sc/MS/ME/M.Tech or equivalent Master’s degree in Physics/Biophysics with minimum 70 % marks (or 7 CGPA). The Candidate must have at least 70% marks throughout 10th, 10+2 and BSc levels. The candidate must have Physics/Biophysics as honours/major subject at the bachelor’s level.
• Desirable experience: Experience in handling bacterial culture, and elementary knowledge in Calculus, and differential equations is desirable. Candidate must have Mathematics/statistics as pass/minor subjects at the bachelor’s level.
• Age limit: 28 years at the date of joining. Relaxation in Age and Academic qualification will be considered for reserved categories as per Govt. of India rules.
• Venue of interview: Walk-in interview will be held on 17th October (Friday), 2025 in Lab No. 216B, Second Floor, AAC Building, IISER Kolkata; Reporting Time: 10 AM.

The selected candidate may be terminated with a 30-day notice before completion of tenure, if their performance is deemed unsatisfactory. The requirements of minimum qualification and/or experience and age may be relaxed in the case of reserved category candidates and candidates with outstanding credentials.
