IISER Pune Neuroscience Project Opening

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune is a premier institute dedicated to research and teaching in the basic sciences. It was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (renamed Ministry of Education in August 2020). In 2012, IISER Pune was declared as an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament. 

Institute invites applications from Indian nationals for the following post purely on temporary and contractual basis:

Name of the Post Project Assistant 

Title of the Project “Neural mechanisms underlying the production of complex vocal sequences” 

Funding Agency DBT / Wellcome Trust India Alliance 

Project code 30721569 

Minimum educational Qualification Master’s Degree in Life Sciences or Biotechnology from a recognized university with minimum of 80% marks or equivalent grade (CGPA 8 and above) 

Experience 3 months of experience working on an animal behavior related project in a neuroscience or neuroethology laboratory. 

Please note certificate of experience will be required with details of the project along with duration. 

Preference Candidates having minimum 2 months of experience working in a microbiology laboratory will be preferred. 

Job requirement Incumbent is expected to do following: • Perform electrophysiological recordings and associated data analysis in awake songbirds. Design and standardize other assays for recording neural activity and manipulating neural activity in awake songbirds. 

Tenure of the appointment For a period of one year extendable for further period subject to continuation of the project and satisfactory performance of the incumbent. 

Consolidated emoluments per month Rs. 20,000 + 27% (House Rent Allowance).
