Advertisement for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Algal Biotechnology lab at the Department of Microbiology
Applications are invited for the position of Junior Research Fellow (1 post) on contract basis (temporary) to work in a time bound SERB-ANRF sponsored research project sanctioned to the undersigned at the Department of Microbiology, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur Title of the Project: "Investigating the molecular mechanisms of polyphosphate storage in microalgae; an approach towards production of sustainable phosphate biofertilizers"
Funding agency: SERB-ANRF, Govt. of India.
Project Duration: The position is purely temporary. Initial appointment will be for 1 year, and it can be extended up to 2 additional years based on performance.
Essential Qualifications: M.Sc./ M.Tech. /Integrated M.Sc. / BS-MS in Biological Sciences/Life Sciences/Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology/ Botany or equivalent with 60% marks for General/OBC, 55% for SC/ST/PH and must have qualified CSIR/UGC- NET/GATE or any other equivalent national level exam (DBT/ICMR).
Desirable qualifications: Candidate with experience on algal/plant biology, metabolite analysis, tissue culture and molecular biology.
Age limit: 28 years (to be relaxed as per the rules of the Government of India).
Emoluments: Rs. 37000/-pm + HRA (as per norms)

Tentative date of online interview: 14th November 2025 (virtual mode)

General terms and conditions: The position is temporary and renewable each year subject to satisfactory performance for a maximum of three (03) years or termination of the project whichever is earlier. The selection will be based on the performance in the interview, academic credentials, and the need of the project.
Mere possession of essential qualifications does not guarantee call for the interview or selection. Only shortlisted candidates will be communicated to appear in the interview and no other communications in this regard will be entertained. The authority reserves the right to accept/reject any or all applications without assigning any reason thereof. Only selected candidate will be communicated to join as Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and no other communication in this regard will be entertained.
