“Postdoctoral Position” on “Stem Cell Engineering and Regenerative Medicine”

Stem Cell Engineering and Regenerative Medicine is an emerging and highly interdisciplinary
research field requiring a multidisciplinary skill set. Regenerative or Tissue Engineering evolved from
the field of biomaterials development and refers to combining biomaterials, cells, and biologically
active molecules into functional tissues. Regenerative medicine aims to assemble functional
constructs that restore, maintain, or improve damaged tissues or whole organs. Our laboratory works
at the interface of materials engineering (including FDA-approved polymeric Biomaterials) and stem
cell biology to develop next-generation approaches in generating tissues such as bone, cartilage, heart
and skin, etc by understanding the biomaterials-stem cells interface and stem cells' niche.
We seek
talented, motivated and passionate individuals, eager to learn multidisciplinary skill sets and ready to
explore their talent/idea/experience in improving human health care, and to join our efforts in a
leading-edge translation research on “Stem Cell Engineering and Regenerative Medicine”. The
candidate will get a highly interdisciplinary work environment to perform cutting-edge research and
high-impact publications.
Essential Qualifications and Work Experience: PhD in Biotechnology, Microbiology,
Nanobiotechnology, Bioengineering, Nanotechnology, any other related interdisciplinary engineering
and/or science, from a reputed institute with substantial sound knowledge and experience in molecular
biology techniques and a publication record from PhD work and related work.
Experience on cell culture, primary cell (e.g., stem cells) culture, and materials-stem
cell/cell interaction studies
Experience on Stem Cells culture and maintenance preferred
Experience in biomaterials fabrication and their biological evaluation, in vitro and in
vivo
Sound knowledge and interest in cell-materials interaction, stem cell biology, proficient
in molecular biological techniques such as quantitative PCR, RTPCR, ELISA, Western
Blotting and immunoassay, etc.
In vivo (small animal) experiment planning and execution
Proficient in designing and executing experiments, interpretation of research results,
writing reports and manuscripts, and managing and guiding PhD/JRF/SRF candidates
Duration of project: Up to 3 years. The initial appointment will be for 6 months. Based on
performance, the appointment could be extended till the end of the project.
Emoluments: INR 75,000 consolidated salary per month, with a Possible increment in the 3rd
Year based on performance.
