The Director, National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) is interested in filling up positions of Project Assistants under the projects initially at the NIO, Regional Centre, Mumbai. Candidates satisfying the requirements given below may attend the walk-in-interview on 13th November 2008 (0930 -1600 hrs) alongwith their bio-data, previous experience if any in any CSIR laboratory and attested copies of certificates/testimonials etc.
PROJECT ASSISTANT II (9 posts)

Essential qualifictions: M.Sc. from a recognized university in Botany / Zoology / Applied Biology / Microbiology / Environmental Science / Life Sciences / Marine Zoology/ Biotechnology/ Inorganic Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry / Chemical Oceanography / Physical Oceanography / Physics / Maths / MCA / IT / Computer Science with minimum 55% marks in aggregate at the qualifying exam.
PROJECT ASSISTANT I (2 posts)
@ Rs.8,000/- p.m. (consolidated)
Essential qualitifications: B.Sc. from a recognized university in Botany/ Zoology/ Microbiology / Chemistry/ Environmental Sciences/Physics/ Maths/ BCA / IT / Computer Science or related fields with minimum 50% marks in aggregate at the qualifying exam.
JOB REQUIREMENT: The selected candidate will be required to assist the Scientists in project related work. The job requires extensive field work on boat/ship at different sites.
Age: For Post No. 1 not exceeding 28 years and post No. 2 not exceeding 25 years as on 30th November 2008. Relaxation of age for SC/ST/OBC/Women as per GOI rules. Qualification relaxation for SC/ST candidates is 5% of the minimum. The above positions are purely temporary initially for 1 year or the duration of the project whichever is earlier.
