The main thrust area of the institute is Tuberculosis, Malaria, Leishmaniasis and Diabetes and is looking for faculty of high caliber and potential, willing to face the challenge of building this Institute into a center of excellence. The focus is on master’s, doctoral and postdoctoral programmes. The openings are for Assistant Professors in various Departments viz. Medicinal Chemistry, Natural Products, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmaceutics, Biotechnology, Pharmacy Practice, Pharmaceutical Management, Division of Pharmacoinformatics and Pharmaceutical Heritage in the scale of pay Rs.12000-420-18300/- (pre-revised).
The details of opening are as under :-
1. Medicinal Chemistry:
Strong background in design and synthesis of new organic molecules for various therapeutic areas that will interact with the novel molecular targets/biological systems. Exposure to computer aided design and/or combinatorial chemistry is desirable.
2. Natural Products:
a) Good background in plant molecular biology with experience and understanding of biomarkers for identification of herbal medicines DNA fingerprinting of medicinal plants/development of bioassays based on molecular mechanisms.
b) Sound background in Ayurveda and clinical experience to undertake rational evaluations of traditional medicine particularly ayurvedic medicines with orientation to abridge knowledge of conventional system of medicine for teaching.
3. Pharmaceutical Analysis:
Strong background in analytical techniques employed in Pharmaceutical formulations using modern chromatography and spectroscopic techniques, application of HPLC, LC/MS and mass fragmentation analysis, development and validation of new analytical methods to support research activity.
Experience in preparation of reference standard samples, synthesis and structure education and establishing impurity profiles of bulk drug substances is desirable.
Alternatively, experience in management of Quality Assurance Functions in industry. Familiarity with GMP, GLP, ICH and FDA regulation requirements.
4. Pharmacology & Toxicology:
(a) Exposure to regulatory toxicology/histopathology and experience in interpretation of data from laboratory animal studies.
(b) Pharmacological Screening and/or bioavailability and bioequivalence
5. Pharmaceutical Technology:
(a) Pharmaceutical Technology (Biotechnology)
Good background in molecular biology, biochemical engineering/down stream processing with work experience in recombinant technology
(b) Formulation:
Sound knowledge of concepts of physical pharmacy, preformulations and formulation development. Experience in the area of development manufacturing and /or analysis of conventional novel dosage forms
(c) Bulk Drugs:
Strong background in design and synthesis of new organic molecules for various therapeutics areas. The candidate should be conversant with scale up concepts of organic synthesis.
6. Pharmaceutics:
(a) Strong base in physical characterization of pharmaceuticals, pre-formulation and dosage form design using newer concepts. Deep understanding of drug delivery technologies for delivering ‘difficult-to-deliver’ drugs, would be an added advantage. Candidates having industrial experience will be preferred
(b) Experience in Bioavailability/bioequivalence and pharmacokinetics.
7. Biotechnology:
Strong background in any or more than one of the following areas: Molecular Biology, Recombinant DNA Technology, Proteomics, Genomics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology or any other area of modern Biotechnology.
8. Pharmacy Practice:
Candidates should have wide experience in teaching, work experience in the areas in clinical and hospital pharmacy, and be able to contribute to the development of a strong center in teaching & research in Pharmacy Practice.
9. Pharmaceutical Management:
a. Candidates should have a basic degree in engineering/pharmacy with post-graduate degree in man agent and experience of applying various management principles to production in pharmaceutical industry.
b. Basic degree in science with PG degree in Personnel, Finance, Human Resource Management from a reputed management institute.
10.Pharmacoinformatics:
Good background in computational biology/computational chemistry/protein crystallography with experience in bioinformatics and/or structural biology to take active part in the pharmacoinformatics teaching programme and drug discovery research. Candidates having experience in various softwares used in drug discovery, molecular modeling and ADME/T viz., GCG, MOE, SYBYL, TOPKAT, etc. would be desirable.
11.Pharmaceutical Heritage:
Candidate should be an established science historian capable of organizing this new activity which will have focus on didactic and research in the history of medico pharmaceutical field.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE :
Ph.D. with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout and three years of industrial teaching experience.
Besides salary the appointees will be eligible to all other allowances as per Central Government Rules. The Institute encourages the faculty members to undertake consultancy work or work on sponsored projects. All appointments are contractual in nature for a period of five (05) years which can be renewed depending upon performance and mutual consent. However, except for the consequences of being on contract, the position filled on contract shall accrue all the benefits of permanency. Retirement age is 62 years.
Candidates having outstanding professional experience and those who have made significant contributions to knowledge but not having a Ph.D. degree may also be considered for appointment. Mere fulfillment of qualifications and experience requirement laid down does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview.
