ENGAGEMENT OF RESEARCH Personnel through Walk in Interview

SRF (1 post)

Project "Determining the offshore distribution and migration of Olive Ridley sea turtle Lepidochelys olivacea along the east coast of India"

Duration: Till 31st December 2009.

Essential Qualification

Masters degree in Marine biology/Marine Science/Zoology/Life Sciences/ Wildlife Science/Ecology/Environmental sciences with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks with two years research experience.

Desirable Qualification

Research experiences in major marine animals especially on sea turtle ecology, animal tracking and knowledge in GIS-Remote Sensing are preferable.

Description of Work

Monitoring the both offshore and onshore sea turtles. Ecological data including satellite data interpretation, analysis and report writing.


GENERAL:

  1. The candidate’s age shall not be more than 28 years as on 15th December 2008. Upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years, as in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women and physically handicapped categories.

  2. Selected candidate for the position of Senior Research Fellow (SRF) will be paid consolidated emoluments of Rs. 14,000/- per month.

  3. All research personnel may be allowed hostel accommodation at the institute, as per availability. Where the hostel accommodation is not possible, house rent allowance (HRA) will be paid as per the rules of the Institute subject to the condition that HRA payable, in no case, shall be more than the rates payable to Central Govt./WII Employee(s) in that area. Other allowances and benefits to the research personnel would be admissible as per the rules of the Institute, amended from time to time.

  4. Engagement on the above positions will be purely on a temporary basis initially and may be extended for further period depending upon the requirement and the tenure of project.

  5. The selection of the candidate will be based on Walk-in-Interview to be held on 22nd December 2008 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun.

  6. Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature.

  7. The `Walk in Interview’ will be conducted on 22nd December 2008 and the registrations of candidates will begin by 09:00 A.M. onwards.

  8. Candidates should bring the duly filled-in applications with attested true copies of testimonials of educational qualifications, research experience, extra curricular activities, date of birth etc., along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations. All original documents should be produced at the time of registration.

  9. Candidates working in other Organizations/Universities should bring their applications forwarded through proper channel. In such cases the candidates will have to produce `No Objection Certificate’ at the time of Interview.

  10. Applications without enclosures and/or incomplete in any respect shall be liable to rejection.

  11. Two way travel expenses will be paid to the candidate, selected for the project. The expense will be limited to actual 2nd class rail/bus fare by the shortest route from his/her place of stay/residence.

  12. The Institute will not provide accommodation for candidates appearing for the interview.

  14. The Director, WII reserves the right to reject any candidature in view of incomplete information provided by the candidate or for any other reason.
