ABOUT THE SEMINAR

Microbiology has developed from the angle of other disciplines of biological sciences in such a way so that problems of cell structure to evolution are solved. Present scenario of microbiology is focusing on the threat of the drug resistant organisms. In spite of its vital role in the field of Genetic Engineering, sometimes microbes are treated as foe. “The spread and spread of H5N1”, “SARS" will it emerge as a Bioweapon?”, “AIDS no peace and harmony with it!” are all that made headlines causing distress among people. With these, no one can ever conclude that microbes are just disease causing agents that survive in nature to sob us of our joyous life.

Although earlier more emphasis were laid down on the agents of infectious diseases, now in the context of microbial enzymes, chemotherapeutic agents and bacterial metabolism, microbes are gaining momentum in view of their role as Mini Biofactories. Importance of this branch lies due to the fact that about 30% of the total Nobel Prizes given in the field of physiology and medicine are awarded to those working on problems related to microbiology.

This seminar on “MAN AND MICROBES” is being organized to focus and unveil what role the microbes actually play in the life of mankind, whether as “miniscule rivals” or “micro-friends”. If the former be your thought, then as in “The Art of War”, by Sun Tzu, “Know your Enemy” and if the later be your insight then, “Know them Better”, from this seminar.

The seminar topics are designed in such a way that both beneficial and harmful impact of microbes on mankind is explored. Also the means of exploiting even the harmful pathogen to benefit mankind are to be disseminated. To summarize, the seminar is aimed to kindle new ideas for extracting beneficial and harmful microorganisms. To address the need of exposing the importance of microbes, the technical session includes expert lectures working on microbial exploitation in various fields. This seminar will serve as a reliable map through the maze of scientific research and help the participant formulate/design his/her future research in Microbiology.

PARTICIPANTS
Academicians, Scientists, Research Scholars, Post- Graduate students from Universities, R & D wing in Industries, Colleges and Industries can participate.

SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS
