The Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) comprising of the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) and the Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH) is a Constituent Institute of the Homi Bhabha National Institute (Deemed University) and is an Autonomous Institution of the Department of Atomic Energy. The Centre is recognized for the Ph.D. programme in Life Sciences.
On-going research at TMC addresses different aspects of Cancer Biology including cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, metastasis, tumor immunology, immunotherapy, virology, chemotherapy, carcinogenesis, gene therapy in animal models, tumor markers, structural biology and proteomics, genomics, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry and medical physics.
Applications are invited, in the prescribed form, for the award of JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in: Applied Biology/ Botany/ Biochemistry/ Bioinformatics/ Biophysics/ Biotechnology/ Life Sciences/ Microbiology/ Molecular Biology/ Zoology; or M.B.B.S. from a recognized University, with not less than 60% aggregate marks. Those awaiting results may also apply.
Stipend
Rs.12000/- + 30% HRA per month as applicable if Hostel facility not allotted.
Hostel facility is available on the ACTREC campus on first come, first served basis.
Duly filled in applications in the enclosed format along with a Demand Draft for Rs.150/- drawn in favour of TMC-ACTREC (No fee in case of SC/ST/PH) along with necessary enclosures (as mentioned in the form) should reach the Senior Administrative Officer, Tata Memorial Centre, Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research & Education in Cancer, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai – 410 210 latest by 24th April 2009. A copy of the application, without enclosures, must be sent by e-mail to jrf2009@actrec.gov.in .
The names of the candidates selected for written test will be displayed on the ACTREC website (www.actrec.gov.in) by 5th May 2009.
An “Objective Type” written examination will be held on Sunday the 7th June 2009 at 10.30 a.m. at Bharati Vidyapeeth’s Institute of Technology, Opp. Kharghar Station, Sector 7, Belpada, CBD, Navi Mumbai – 400 614. Names of candidates qualifying in the written examination will be displayed at the: (i) ACTREC website, (ii) Examination Centre, and (iii) ACTREC Security Gate after 4.00 p.m. on 8th June 2009. Interviews will be held on 9th, 10th and 11th June 2009.
Candidates who have a research fellowship from CSIR/ ICMR/ UGC/ DBT or any other agency, need not to appear for the written test. Their applications in prescribed form must reach ACTREC by 24th April 2009. If they meet the basic eligibility requirements, they will be invited to appear for an interview. The list of such eligible candidates who will be allowed to appear for interview will be displayed on the ACTREC website (www.actrec.gov.in) by 5th May 2009. Applicants who may have receive a fellowship after 24th April 2009 may contact the Centre by phone or email and seek an interview date.
