Project Scientist/ Post Doctoral Fellow-2

for CIMMYT- Asia Regional Maize Program

About CIMMYT: International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) is a nonprofit scientific research organization, one of the 15 International Institutes under the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), with its world headquarter at Mexico.

Responsibilities: Carrying out work on developing selection strategies and phenotyping maize germplasm for various key abiotic stresses; morpho-physiological studies on major abiotic stresses; data recording, statistical analysis and assisting in writing project. Candidate should be ready to travel as per requirement of the project activities.

Requirements: M.Sc. in Plant Sciences with specialization in abiotic stresses, stress breeding or related subject with more than 3 years relevant experience or recent Ph.D. in Plant Sciences with specialization in abiotic stresses, stress breeding or related subject from a reputed institution.

Candidate should have understanding of experimental design, management of glass house, field trials and field operations as well as field and lab-based techniques relevant to maize breeding and abiotic stresses related to high productivity, quality and industrial traits; excellent computing, statistical and biometrical analysis skills; demonstrated ability to publish in refereed science journals as first author; proficiency in English both spoken and written, ability to communicate in Hindi/Telegu and ability to work collegially and collaboratively in diverse, multicultural partnerships preferred.

Reward: This position is on a Fixed-Term Contract initially for two year, and renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the Institute's continuing need for the position. An attractive compensation will be offered for the right candidate.
