Frontiers in Genetics’ PhD program starts every year in October and usually lasts 4 years. During the first year, the students are requested to complete 3 rotations in different laboratories of the network. In addition, they must attend a course entitled Frontiers in Molecular Genetics. The students are then submitted to a qualifying exam before being enrolled into the PhD thesis project.
Tentative schedule
Please find below a typical schedule.
- Beginning of October: students visit each of the members’ labs.
- October: the student defines the rotation plan in agreement with the Committee.
- December-April: individual meetings between the students and the Committee to define subsequent rotations and course plans.
- April-May: each student chooses a research supervisor, following mutual agreement. In addition, he/she selects 2 additional faculty members to serve as advisors. Each student proposes a topic to develop for his qualifying exam.
- June: qualifying exam.
