We are seeking experienced individuals with an interest in curation of human genomic and proteomic data for the position of Database curators. Knowledge of molecular biology and sequence analysis is preferred. Experience in database annotation is a must and preference will be given to those already working on similar jobs in other companies/institutions. The job involves reading of scientific literature, interpreting results of experiments as required by the database standards. Selected candidates will undergo additional training on curation and data analysis. The selected individuals will be coauthors in scientific articles that emanate from their work.
Institute of international repute including Human Protein Reference Database, Plasma Proteome Database (published in NAR and Genome Research), Human Proteinpedia (published in Nature Biotechnology), a resource for human signaling pathways-NetPath and Resource for Asian Primary Immune Diseases (published in NAR). Besides databases, scientists at IOB performed a comparative genomic analysis of mouse and human X chromosomes and identified novel protein coding regions on the human X chromosome which was published in Nature Genetics. Another study, also published in Nature Genetics, involved construction of largest interactome based on the protein-protein interaction data available in various protein databases.
Desirable traits to apply for this position include: (i) Proficiency with computers and internet, (ii) ability to work independently and in a team and (iii) must have a plan to work in this position for at least three years.
