PhD Candidates to associate with Indo-German International Research and Training Group in Molecular Cellular Glycosciences
Applications are invited from eligible candidates, currently pursuing doctoral studies (in early phase) to associate with Indo-German International Research and Training Group in Molecular Cellular Glycosciences (IRTG-MCGS).
The IRTG-MCGS group comprises of faculty from University of Munster in Germany and from University of Hyderabad and Osmania University in India engaged in research in glycobiology and identified topics of research for collaboration (details can be seen at http://www.uni-muenster.de/mcgs
Qualifications MSc in any area of Life Sciences/Chemistry (preferably with an interest/or experience of working in glycobiology) with at least 55% marks and is willing to participate in the IRTG. Preference will be given to the candidates
a) already registered for Ph.D. in a topic related to MCGS
b) qualified a national level eligibility test for a research fellowship
c) familiarity with the carbohydrate chemistry/biochemistry
Important points to note
1. The candidates selected for this programme will not get monthly stipend from IRTG-MCGS or from University of Hyderabad.
2. The programme is formally approved by DFG in Germany while an application is filed with DST in India for support to the Indian investigators. The outcome of the DST’s support will not be known before March 2010.
The selected candidates will have to attend a summer school being organized at University of Munster from October 5-31, 2009 by mobilizing their own financial resources for travel, visa fee and related expenses while they will be supported by DFG for their accommodation and living costs at University of Munster. However, efforts are being made to obtain funds to cover the travel costs of 2 or 3 selected candidates, from
Hyderabad to Munster and back.
