Thailand Biotech Post doc Positions

Biotec Thailand BIOTEC Research Unit Coordination Division
National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) Pathumthani 12120 Thailand

BIOTEC is seeking post-doctoral researchers to fill the following positions:

Position 1. Study effects of newly designed anti-folate compounds in animal model
Job description The Post-doc fellow will be working in the Protein-Ligand  Engineering and Molecular Biology Laboratory, BIOTEC, Thailand. The major goal of the laboratory is to develop novel anti-folate drug for malaria. The major scientific focus for this position is to study effects of newly designed anti-folate compounds in animal models and to understand their pharmacokinetics in the animal. The candidate will work closely with a strong team of parasitologists, chemists, biochemists and structural biologists. There will be a chance to work on the generation of transgenic parasites, if needed.
Eligibility/Specific Qualifications A Ph.D., within the last 5 years, in biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, parasitology or pharmacology is encouraged to apply. Knowledge in drug discovery field particularly in pharmacokinetics /pharmacodynamics with experience in using analytical equipment such as flow cytometer, HPLC is highly desirable. The ability to work with laboratory animals is required.
Position 2. Study on potential drug-target proteins
Job description The Post-doc fellow will be working in the Protein-Ligand Engineering and Molecular Biology Laboratory, BIOTEC, Thailand. The major scientific focus for this position is to study on malarial proteins that are potential drug target: expression, structural determination and characterization using biophysical techniques. This research is aimed to determine the X-ray structure of potential drug targets in malaria as a preliminary step for drug development process.
Eligibility/Specific Qualifications A Ph.D., within the last 5 years, in Biochemistry, Chemistry or else with strong background in protein crystallography and characterization and good at communicating and writing in English.
Position 3.  Study on the osmotic defense mechanisms in plant
Job description The Post-doc fellow will be working in the Plant Physiology & Biochemistry Laboratory, BIOTEC Central Research Unit, BIOTEC, Thailand. The major scientific focus for this position is to study on the osmotic defense mechanisms via water relation in salt tolerant plants and biochemical and physiological parameters that are mainly played a role as effective indices to classify the salt tolerant group to be cultivated in the salt-affected soil as organic matter production for saline soil phytoremediation.
Eligibility/Specific Qualifications A Ph.D., within the last 5 years, experience in photosynthesis, water use efficiency and plant tissue culture as well as outstanding in scientific community which defined by at least 3 publications in the international journal with impact factors.
Position 4.  Study on Histamine dehydrogenase
Job description: The Post-doc fellow will be working in the Food Biotechnology Laboratory, BIOTEC Central Research Unit, BIOTEC, Thailand. The major scientific focus for this position is to purify and elucidate the crystal structure of Histamine dehydrogenase and develop method for histamine degradation in fish sauce by using cell and/or enzyme.
Eligibility /Specific Qualifications A PhD, within the last 5 years, in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Food Science and Technology with experiences on enzyme purification and/or enzyme or protein crystal structure.
Position 5. Study on cellular mechanism of viral infection in crustaceans
Job description: The Post-doc fellow will be working in the BIOTEC Central Research Unit, BIOTEC, Thailand. This fellowship aims to provide the foundation for understanding intracellular interactions between crustaceans and their viral pathogens. A major scientific focus is to identification of critical host molecules and biochemical pathways for viruses to establish infection. A key approach is to combine data from microscopy-based method with data from molecular approaches to develop a basic knowledge on cellular mechanism of viral infection.
Eligibility /Specific Qualifications: A Ph.D., within the last 3 years, in virology, biochemistry or molecular biology is required. Knowledge and experience with advanced microscopy techniques, intracellular signaling pathways is highly desirable.

All positions are open to Thai and international applicants.
