CSIR’s New HRD Initiative “CSIR Diamond Jubilee Research Interns Awards”

Moving steps ahead on the new HRD initiative of CSIR stemming from Diamond Jubilee year celebration, CIMAP, a constituent national laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), invites applications from young and meritorious Indian nationals who are creative, have a passion and desire to pursue R & D related to Science and Technology for recruitment as Research Interns (RI).
The internship is meant to be preparatory phase for the young interns for imbibing the spirit of enquiry and learning the tools and techniques related to R & D through participation. The streams of sciences, eligibility criteria and other requirements are given below:
First class MSc in any of the following subject areas: Botany, Agronomy, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Biotechnology, Agri-economics, Microbiology, Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry. OR
First class B. Tech or equivalent in Information Technology, Chemical Engineering. OR
Masters in Mass Communication
Desirable Qualification: Practical experience in any one of the above mentioned subject areas.
General conditions for all the above positions
1. Eligibility: 1st class in M.Sc./B.Tech. examinations.
2. Age limit: 25 years as on 13th November, 2009 (Relaxable upto 5 years in case of SC/ST/OBC, Physically handicapped (PH) and Female candidates.)
3. Stipend: Rs. 11500/ –per month. (Fixed)
4. No. of Seats: 19 (Nineteen). May vary subject to availability of meritorious candidates. A panel of candidates qualified on merit will be made to serve as the wait list for six months.
5. Tenure: Maximum two years from the date of joining and not extendable under any circumstances. Performance of the interns will be reviewed every six months. In case the performance is not satisfactory, the internship will be terminated with one month’s notice or one month’s stipend in lieu thereof. During the internship period the intern would be free to appear for NET /GATE and secure regular fellowship for doing Ph.D.
6. Selection will be through initial screening based on overall academic records and experience and interview of short listed candidates. If required a written test may be undertaken to shortlist candidates for interview.
7. Mere fulfillment of eligibility criteria will not entitle the applicant to be called for the test/interview.
8. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview/ test.

Applications should be submitted on plain paper duly signed mentioning advertisement number, full name (surname first), date of birth, age as on 13th November 2009, sex, category(SC/ST/OBC/PH/FC), father’s name, full mailing address, academic qualifications (10+2 onwards), detailing examinations passed, board/ university, year of passing, % marks, subject etc., option for subject area. If any relative is employed in CIMAP and/or CSIR, details must be given in application (i.e. name, designation & place of work). Any other relevant information considered important for the merit / qualification may also be given. A passport size photograph of the applicant should be pasted on the top right corner of the application. Attested copies of all relevant certificates and testimonials should also be included. Applications incomplete in any of the above respects will be rejected. If selected, the placement in a laboratory or the center of CIMAP will be dependant on availability of seats(s) in the respective lab at sole discretion of Director, CIMAP. The decision of Director, CIMAP will be final in all the respects.
