About the Centre/Workshop
The DBT, Govt. of India funded establishment of a Bioinformatics Centre at the Cancer Research Institute in 1989. Over the years the centre has developed a small infrastructure to serve the users from the institute as well as other organisations.
We are targeting Post MSc/PhD students/Research scientists/Academic faculties who do not have exposure to the subject of Bioinformatics and training to use its different components effectively for their research related requirements. Preference will be given to candidates from places without any DBT Bioinformatics centre.
This two-day workshop with hands-on sessions will cover the following topics.
Introduction to Bioinformatics.
Basic applications in Proteomics
Biological databases & Sequence Analysis.
Structural Bioinformatics.
Molecular Modelling & Drug design.
Pre-requisites
Working knowledge of Computers/Internet.
Active research / teaching background.
No. of participants: 15- 20

Registration fees to be paid in cash/DD (In favour of Director, ACTREC) on the first day of workshop, at the Bioinformatics Centre, ACTREC.
List of selected applicants will appear on this web site on 8th Jan, 2010 and intimation to each such individual will be sent only by e-mail and a return e-mail confirmation of attendance is mandatory.
