PhD Student Positions in Cancer Cell Signaling
Applications are invited for two Ph. D. student positions available in the Laboratory of Cell Signaling and Disease Biology (Prof. Dr. W. Krek) at the Institute of Cell Biology of ETH Zurich.
The laboratory is dedicated to the study of tumor suppressor-dependent signaling networks that integrate diverse metabolic, stress and environmental cues to control cell growth, survival, metabolism and bioenergetics of specific cell types and their roles in cancer. We apply a wide range of experimental technologies such as life-cell imaging, RNAi-screening, functional genomics and proteomics and model disease states in the mouse. Our studies are significantly enriched through collaborations with a number of laboratories from distinct fields including clinical pathology, chemistry and computational sciences.
Selected recent work include: Nat Cell Biol 2007, 9:588; Mol Cell 2007, 28:28; EMBO J 2008, 27:1747; Cell Metab 2009, 9:512; Nat Cell Biol 2009, 11:994.Within the frame of our research interests, projects are available to pursue interdisciplinary research on the cross-talk between tumor suppressor-dependent signaling pathways and metabolic control in cancer cells and its impact on tumor development.
Candidates should be highly motivated, creative, collaborative and interested to work in an interdisciplinary and very collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be enroled in the Ph. D. Program of the Life Science Zurich Graduate School. The position is located in Science City, the Life Science Campus of ETH Zurich, a world-leading institution in basic and applied research. Successful candidates will work in an international team. Applications with a full CV, list of publications, short statement of research interests (half page) and names of three referees should be submitted online:
