Applications are invited within Forty Five days from the date of publication in the Employment News for 4 (Four) posts of ‘Scientist-C’ in the PB 3 Pay Band of Rs.15,600-39,100/- Grade Pay 6600 plus DA, HRA, Transport Allowances etc. and NPA applicable for Medical Graduate only. The incumbent may be posted at NIOH, Ahmedabad or its regional centres at Bangalore and Kolkata.
Qualification:
Essential:
(i) MBBS degree recognized by MCI OR First class M.Sc./M.Phil / Post Graduate degree in the discipline as stated below from the recognized university or equivalent, ORSecond class MSc/Post Graduate degree in the said discipline with Ph.D. degree from the recognized university or equivalent.ii) Four years research experience in the relevant fields with proven publications as peer scientist.
Desirable:
(i) Doctorate degree in the discipline as shown for essential qualification, OR MD in the related subject.(ii) Knowledge of Computer Applications (statistical packages, database management, Programming Language, Business Intelligence tools, etc.)
Job Requirement:
To undertake independent research programme, educational activity and participate in multi-disciplinary teamwork in the field of Occupational and Environmental Health. To assist in institutional infrastructure development and extra-mural research grant generation.
Age:
Not exceeding 40 years (relaxable upto 5 years for Government servants in accordance with the instructions and order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training from time to time in this regard).
Discipline/Subject - Experience & Job description
1 Chemistry (Analytical/ Organic/Biochemistry)
Experience in industrial hygiene studies, environmental and biological monitoring/metal toxicity/organic pollutants. R&D experience in sophisticated instrumentation operation and maintenance (e.g., AAS, GC-MS/MS, LCMS/ MS, ICP-MS/MS), experimental design and execution.
Team member to coordinate central analytical facility and training new users.
2 Occupational Toxicology (Toxicology/Biochemistry, Pharmacology/Physiology/Biotechnology)
Experience in occupational and environmental health studies, molecular biology/cell biology, toxico-genomic studies. Good knowledge of related sophisticated instrumentation operation and handling, experimental design and execution, and training new users.
3 Environmental Studies (Environmental Science/ Life Science)
R&D experience in human exposure studies in the field of physical environment, climatic physiology, noise and vibration studies. In addition, the incumbent will undertake national body sizing research. Experience in geospatial statistics and mapping (GIS application) will be preferred.
4 Occupational Medicine
R&D experience in epidemiological studies in pulmonary medicine/ chest diseases, with special reference to occupational and environmental health. Experience in related laboratory infrastructure development.

Incomplete / late application or without postal orders will not be entertained. The envelop should be superscripted Application for the post and number of post applied. Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidates or to bring political or other outside influence with regard to selection / recruitment shall be disqualification.
Since it is not possible to call all the eligible candidates for the interview/personal discussion, the applicants will be short-listed for this purpose. The decision of the Director General, ICMR will be final in this regard. Candidates called for interview will be paid first class rail fare by shortest route on production of documents. The post of Scientist-C is with All India Transfer liability.
