The Workshop

Bioinformatics has become an integral part of new biology and has led to advanced growth of genome sequencing, structural genomics, proteomics and micro-array in a significant manner. In the field of drug discovery and development, rational drug designing and molecular modeling are being increasingly used. Molecular modeling is a key tool in structural molecular biology and computerassisted drug designing as it involves comparatively less time and is more cost effective and faster than real experiments. Further, the data generated helps scientists to eliminate likely ineffective compounds.

The goal of the workshop is to familiarize the participants with:

  • Basic and advanced in silico techniques used in Bioinformatics and drug design.

  • Current challenges in bioinformatics application in molecular modeling and rational drug designing.

  • Recent advances in molecular modeling in drug designing.
The participants of the workshop will be accessing online resources of macromolecule libraries, sketching chemical compounds, building 3-D molecules and understanding docking studies. They would also learn about prediction and analysis of various properties of compounds, bimolecular and structure prediction, docking of molecules with target sites, visualization and analysis.

The participants will have sufficient opportunity to interact with the experts from diverse backgrounds. The three day intensive workshop involving lectures and practical will help the participants to acquire the basic skills in Bioinformatics and Molecular Modeling in Drug Design which will help in their career advancement.

Objectives

The participants of the workshop will be accessing online resources of macromolecules libraries, sketching chemical compounds and building 3-D molecules. They would also learn about prediction and analysis of various properties of compounds, bimolecular and structure prediction, different docking modules, visualization and analysis. The participants would get familiar with the 'state of the art' techniques in bioinformatics that have practical implications. The lecture by experts and the laboratory work would significantly enhance the skills of the workshop participants in drug designing an important aspect of drug development.

Registration Fee

Rs 2,000/- per participant. The registration fee includes lectures/presentation handouts, stationary, local transportation, lunch and tea. Fee is to be paid through bank draft drawn in favour of “CEO, Biotech Park, Lucknow”, Completed registration form along with the fee should reach, CEO, Biotech Park on or before June 21, 2010.
