Scientist-Genetic Resources/ Groundnut Breeding
The Job: Planning and executing field experiments in genetic resources/ groundnut breeding, analyze, summarize, and interpret the data of the experiments; prepare reports and papers for publication in the reputed journals; and prepare project proposals for donor funding.
The Person: PhD degree from a reputed university in plant breeding and/or genetics, with a minimum five years of post-doctoral experience as germplasm specialist/ plant breeder/geneticist in a research institute/university/ reputed private sector company.
Knowledge of quantitative genetics theory and its application in practical plant breeding of self-pollinated crops, diversity assessment, agricultural statistics, and good computer skills are essential. Theoretical knowledge of marker diversity, marker-aided selection in crop improvement will be an additional desirable requirement.
Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. Ability to work as a member of interdisciplinary teams, including multicultural and multinational scientists, is important.
The Reward: This is a regionally recruited position in the scientific and managerial group of ICRISAT, with a competitive salary and benefits package payable in Indian rupees. The position is for an initial three year period, and may be extended depending on requirement, funding availability and performance of the incumbent. The benefits include attractive perquisites.
