GRANT ADVISER

Key Objectives:
National Centre for Biological Sciences (www.ncbs.res.in), a premier centre for research and teaching in frontier areas of biology, invites applications from suitable individuals for the position of Grants Adviser.
The Grants Adviser will be a member of a small team of staff working within the Research Development Office to provide a range of scientific administrative services to the research community at NCBS, including Extramural Grant Funding advice, Grant management, Phd studentship administration, Science Policy and Science Communication.
The activities of the Grants Adviser will help to increase Extramural funding available to researchers, manage internal funding schemes, communicate research outputs to scientific and lay communities and provide networking and career-development opportunities for junior researchers.
The Grants Adviser needs to be a self-driven, highly motivated individual with good time-management, communication and computer skills. The incumbent should have a strong customer focus, a commitment to high standards, the ability to analyse and summarise information, be capable of working both independently and as part of a team. Prior experience in grant management and/or science communication would be an advantage.
The Grants Adviser should be from a Life Sciences background, be trained at least to the Masters level and have a strong desire to develop a career in scientific administration. Salary is negotiable and dependent on qualifications and experience and will not be a constraint in the case of exceptional candidates.
Main duties:
Key duties include:
i)Pre-application grants advice to NCBS scientists on funding agencies, schemes and deadlines
ii)Due diligence on prepared grant applications
iii)Collation and dispatch of information for annual/ final reports to Funding Agencies
iv)Implementation of new funding schemes developed by the Office as required
v)Participation in Science Communication activities of the Office such as Newsletters and Public Engagement events
vi)Undertaking any other duties that may be required from time to time.
Organisational relationships:
The Grants Adviser will report directly to the Manager, RDO. He/she will be the point of contact for Group leaders, students and post-doctoral researchers at NCBS and assist in their efforts to secure extramural grant funding and for science communication.
