About the Lecture Course
The Lecture Course on ‘‘Molecular and Evolutionary Genetics of Malaria’ will focus on lectures and laboratory demonstrations on different aspects of population and evolutionary genetics in general, and in malaria system, in particular.
Considering evolutionary genomics as a highly emerging discipline in post-genomic era, and malaria being a highly fatal infectious disease in India, malaria system can serve as a model infectious disease to understand evolutionary interactions among malaria triangle (host-parasite-vector).
The course thus aims at in-depth discussions and knowledge dissemination on malaria evolutionary genetics by the global leaders in the field.
Apart from lectures and laboratory demonstrations, group discussions, journal clubs and field trips for biological sample collection will also be made.
Applications from advanced-level Ph. D. students, fresh postdocs and junior faculties working in different Universities and research institutions in India on research projects devoting to any aspect of molecular and evolutionary genetics, especially on malaria/other vector-borne infectious disease will be given preference.
Applicants from Industries are also welcome. The participants are also required to present on their own work in the form of posters and present their understanding (in the form of a 10-minutes talk) from the course at the end of the event.
Altogether 40 participants will be selected to attend the course.
Thanx to Surendra Kumar Prajapati, PhD, National Institute of Malaria Research for ssharing above information with us.
