Genesis of program: Intellectual property nghts protection is a-ucial in the development of innovation driven sector of drugs and phanmaceuticals. The year 2010 is the Diamond Jubilee Year of Central Drug Research Institue and to commemorate the occasion, institute is organizing an international workshop on "Recent Trends in IP Practice and Management" in coll aboration with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) during 5-6 October 2010 at Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow.

Objective: The principal objective of the workshop is to impart first hand exposure of current IP practices in US and India to research scientists and those involved in IP filing. The focus of deliberations would be on patenting phanmaceuticals and biological materials encompassing the aspects of prior art search, documentation, establ ishing patentability, attending office actions, daims drafting and interpretation, comparative IP practices, technology transfer and portfolio management.

Participants: I P coordinators from institutions in chemical and biological sciences, academia and industry who are actively involved in coordinatinglhandling patenting activities and prolific inventors who would liketo know the latesttrends in this domain are likely to attend this program. The number of participants is restricted to 100 on first come first served basis.

Accommodation: The arrangement of accommodatkln for the participants is on first come first served basis with no fee charged.
