Course Contents (Both theory and practical)

» Disease diagnosis - Traditional and molecular approaches
» Plant pathogen diagnostic tools to support management decisions and plant quarantine
» Molecular diagnostic techniques (PCR, Real time PCR, Rolling circle amplification, Nucleic acid spot hybridization) and its application for viruses, fungi, bacteria, viroid, Phytoplasma, Xylem 11 Phloem limited bacteria
» Antibody based diagnosis of plant pathogens - viruses, fungi and bacteria (Oot blot, TIssue blot and Lateral flow)
» Array based diagnosis and deep sequencing for identification of plant pathogens.
» Standard protocol for testing the planting material/tissue culture plants for pathogen indexing and certification.
» Nanotechnology in disease diagnosis
