Opportunities for pursuing PhD studies under the Indo-German IRTG (GRK 1673)

Applications are invited from eligible candidates from India who would like to engage and associate with the International Research Training Group – GRK 1673, a joint initiative of the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the University of Hyderabad/UGC, for pursuing their PhD studies in India under the joint supervision of Indian and German scientists associated with the program.
Those interested in the main theme area ‘unctional Molecular Infection Epidemiologymay only apply. Please note the following eligibility conditions are to be fulfilled. Those found ineligible will not be considered in any case.

Eligibility - Candidate should be an Indian national who has qualified a Master degree in any discipline of biology or life sciences or computational sciences with a valid JRF (Junior Research Fellow) certificate issued by the Indian agencies – DBT/ICMR/CSIR.

Those who have already registered for a PhD degree with the respective institutions and supervisors participating in the GRK 1673 program will be given preference. The selected students will have the opportunity to work in corresponding German laboratories for a brief period as a part of the IRTG student exchange program.

How to apply? - Interested candidates may like to send in 1) their complete CV as an email attachment to GRK1673@gmail.com together with 2) a scanned copy of a recommendation letter signed and stamped by their supervisor(s) and 3) their plan of work written in only one full page. The candidates may like to refer to the website of the GRK1673 (hhttp://www.vetmed.fu-berlin.de/v/grk1673/index.html) for full details of the projects offered under various different participating laboratories in India and Germany. All dossiers must be received by December 4, 2010.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a selection committee shortly after.
