Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Agriculture (PGDMA 2011)

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Agriculture (PGDMA) is a 2-year (6 trimesters) fully residential course approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The aim of the programme is to train graduates of agriculture and allied sciences in management of agribusiness. The course was started in the year 2009. Currently 24 and 20 students are on the roll in the PGDMA courses of 2009 and 2010, respectively.

One such opportunity is the ever-expanding food and agri-business arena with vast untapped potential for professional excellence and societal transformation. The most critical requirement of this booming sector is qualified and competent young professionals with accumulated domain expertise in agri and allied sciences. With a foresight of producing tomorrow’s agri-business professionals, the Academy has initiated this PGDMA course at the most opportune time due to:

Courses for PGDM (Agriculture)

* First year: core courses around the following blocks: Agribusiness Environment, Analytical Foundations, IT and Systems, Organizational and Leadership Essentials, Business Communication and Core business functions (Operations, Marketing and Finance)

* Second year: core and electives in Food and Agribusiness Management, International Trade, Agrientreprenurship, Agri-marketing and market intelligence

* Summer Internship for 8 weeks at the end of first year
 
* Project work with agribusiness/industry

NAARM’s PGDM (Agricuture) is a two-year programme recognized by the AICTE. In the first year, the curriculum provides for foundation of broad management knowledge and skills to succeed in the agribusiness. In the second year, the curriculum emphasizes developing areas of expertise in agribusiness management through a range of core courses and electives.
Eligibility
The minimum qualification for admission into the programmes is a FOUR YEAR Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following subjects from any Agricultural University or Institution recognized by the ICAR/UGC:

  • Agri-Business Management/Commercial Agriculture and Agri-Business Management/ Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation
  • Agricultural Engineering
  • Agricultural Information Technology
  • Bioinformatics
  • Biotechnology
  • Dairy Technology
  • Energy and Environmental Engineering
  • Fisheries
  • Food Technology/Food Process Engineering
  • Forestry
  • Horticulture
  • Sericulture
  • Veterinary Science
Minimum Percentage: 50 percent or its equivalent OGPA

The students who are going to complete their degree by July, 2011 are also eligible to apply.

Total Number of Seats: 30 (Thirty)

The reservation of seats will be available for OBC, SC, ST and Physically Handicapped category as per Govt. of India rules.
