A Refresher Course on 'Modern biotechnological techniques' for graduate and postgraduate college/university teachers will be held at Manipal Life Sciences Centre, Manipal University, Manipal, for a period of two weeks from 10 to 22 January 2011.

The objective of this short-term refresher course is to give the participants a hands-on training on some modern biotechnological techniques and the theory behind them. A variety of teaching methods like lectures, discussion and laboratory work will facilitate the learning process. The course will help the participants gain and sharpen their skills in biotechnology. This training provides them necessary knowledge to boost their confidence in handling modern instruments used in modern biotechnology. The skills gained during this workshop will effectively help the participants fulfil their role as better researchers and teachers in teaching undergraduate/postgraduate students. The course will consist of a lecture every day and over 6 hours of practical/demonstration/hands-on training.

Teachers who wish to participate in the refresher Course may send their application on plain paper with the following details: Name, age, date of birth, sex, e-mail address, official and residential address, telephone and mobile numbers, academic qualifications starting from B.Sc. onwards, teaching experience, courses taught, position held, and a statement indicating reasons for interest in participating in the course and expectations from the course (Please do not send your entire cv). Twentyfive selected teachers will be provided local hospitality and round-trip actual bus fare / train fare (3-tier AC) by shortest route.
