POST-DOC Position in Rishi Valley Region of Andhra Pradesh
Applications are invited for a post-doc with experience in community surveillance, epidemiology or clinical medicine. The position will be based in the Rishi Valley region of Andhra Pradesh. This is a full time position and will include coordination of a case-control study of hypertension among people living in this region. The project commences in March 2011. The successful applicant will be employed at the Primary Health Care facility at the Rishi Valley Education Centre, and will have an Adjunct position with Monash University in Australia.
The appointee will work under the direction of the Professor Amanda Thrift, Head of Epidemiology and Prevention at Monash University and will have support from study co-investigators at the Rishi Valley Health Centre. The successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of the day-to-day conduct and coordination of project. Duties will include questionnaire development, recruitment and management of health workers, collection, cleaning and analysis of data, report writing and contribution to publication. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in a health-related field, previous experience in epidemiological and/or clinical research, outstanding organizational and time management skills, excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, and demonstrated skills in using excel. Demonstrated use of statistical packages such as STATA, SAS or SPSS and an ability to speak Telugu would be a distinct advantage.
