ADMISSION NOTICE 2011-12
Applications in prescribed form are invited from the candidates eligible for admission into the following programmes of studies for the session 2011-12:
1. Programme : Integrated M.Sc. in Bioscience and Bioinformatics
Eligibility criteria : Minimum 60% aggregate marks with Biology, Chemistry, Physics and/or Mathematics subjects at 10+2 and pass mark in English.
2. Programme : M.Sc. in Environmental Science
Eligibility criteria : B.Sc. (Agri.) with a minimum of 50% marks or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry/ Zoology/ Botany/ Physics/ Environmental Science as major/ honours with a minimum of 50% marks. Candidates excluding B.Sc.(Agri) not having major/honours, must have at least 55% marks in aggregate
3. Programme : M.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology
Eligibility criteria : Bachelor's degree in Physical, Biological, Agricultural, Veterinary, Fishery Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering/ Technology, four years B.Sc. programme (Physicain Assistant course) or Medicine, MBBS or BDS with a minimum 55% marks in major/honours or aggregate. Those who have passed the qualifying examination before 2 years from the date of announcement of admission are not eligible.
Provisional Admission: Candidates who have appeared/are appearing in the qualifying examination in 2011 can also apply. They will be admitted provisionally if otherwise found eligible at the entrance examination. The candidates appearing in the qualifying examination must complete their qualifying examinations in all respects by the date of admission. Such candidates if selected for admission will have to produce the evidence of completion of the examinations on the day of admission. If admitted such candidates will be required to submit the evidence of passing the qualifying examination fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria by 31st October, 2011.
Selection: (i) B. Tech. Programme - on the basis of performance in the All India Engineering/ Architecture Entrance Examination (AIEEE) conducted by the CBSE to be held on 01.05.2011. 50% of the seats will be filled in through the Central Counseling conducted by the CBSE. For this no separate application will be required. Remaining 50% of the seats will be filled in by the candidates of NE states. The candidates of NE states qualifying in the AIEEE may apply to this university for admission against the seats reserved for NE domicile candidates for which counselling will be held at Tezpur University. Candidates from NE states securing any of the top 10 positions in the higher secondary Board/ Council Examination with an aggregate marks of 85% or more will be directly admitted in the discipline of his/her choice with free studentship. Free studentship shall also be available to top 10% of the students admitted to the B.Tech. programme based on AIEEE score.
(ii) Integrated M.Sc. and Integrated B.Sc.B.Ed.( Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics major in B.Sc.) Programmes - Selection for these programmes will be on the basis of the combined entrance examination.
(iii) Integrated M.A. in English and Integrated B.A. B.Ed. Programmes (English Major in B.A.)- Selection for these two programmes will be on the basis of the combined entrance examination. (iv) PG Degree, Diploma and Certificate programme on the basis of performance in the Entrance Examination conducted by Tezpur University. However, for some programmes such as M.Sc. in MBBT, Integrated M. Tech. in Food Engineering & Technology, M.Tech. in Computational Seismology, MA in Mass Communication and Journalism, MA in English and P.G. Diploma in Mobile & Multimedia Communication, P.G. Diploma in Tourism Management Group Discussion and/or interview will also be conducted. GATE qualified candidates with valid GATE score in the relevant subjects may seek for Direct Admission without Entrance Examination in the M.Tech. in Information Technology, Electronics Design & Technology, Bioelectronics and Energy Technology , provided they meet the cut off score. (iii) Ph.D. programme on the basis of written test and personal interview conducted by the Departments. List of the candidates short listed for written test and personal interview will be displayed on the TU website. No call letter will be issued separately.
Reservation and relaxation of marks : As per the Govt. of India rules. In cases of M. Tech. programmes in Information Technology, Energy Technology, Electronics Design & Technology, Bioelectronics and PGDiploma in Mobile and Multimedia Communication some seats are reserved for sponsored candidates. However, they have to qualify Tezpur University Entrance Examination 2011.
Self Supported Scheme( SSS): Tezpur University has a provision for SSS. Only the left over of the waitlisted candidates shall be eligible with additional fees not exceeding 5 times of the normal fees. Number of seats under SSS will not exceed 7 in each programme for 2011.
Entrance Examination Centres: Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Dibrugarh, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Itanagar, Jorhat, Kokrajhar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, North Lakhimpur, Pune, Patna, Siliguri, Shillong, Silchar, and Tezpur.
How to apply
TU application form along with the prospectus can be obtained (i) from the designated branches of PUNJAB NATIONAL BANK by paying Rs. 510/- (Rs. 260/- for SC/ST) or (ii) in person by paying Rs. 500/- ( Rs. 250/- for SC/ST ) from the office of the Controller Examinations, T.U., or (iii) by sending a request to the Controller of examination, T.U. with a demand draft of Rs. 560/- (Rs. 310/- for SC/ST ) in favour of the Registrar, Tezpur University, payable at Tezpur, with a self addressed unstamped envelope of 36 cm x 25 cm., or (iv) downloading the forms from the TU website. Downloaded application form should be accompanied by a draft drawn in favour of the Registrar, Tezpur University, payable at Tezpur for Rs 500/- ( Rs.250/- for SC/ST) .
Candidates applying for more than one programme should apply separately for each programme. However, for Integrated M.Sc./Integrated B.Sc.B.Ed, programme a candidate needs to apply for all programmes/disciplines in a single application form. Similarly for Integrated M.A. (English) and Integrated B.A.B.Ed. (English major in B.A.), a candidate needs to apply in a single application form. Duly filled in application forms should be sent to the Controller of Examinations, Tezpur University, Tezpur (Napaam) 784028.

- Issue of TU prospectus with application form for all programmes (except B. Tech): with effect from 25.01. 2011 to 25.03.2011
- Issue of TU prospectus with application form for B. Tech programme : with effect from 25.01. 2011 to 26.04.2011
- Last date for submission of duly filled in application form for various programmes of studies is given below:
(i) All programmes of studies (except B. Tech) : April 5, 2011
(ii) B.Tech. programmes: April 29, 2011
Applications received after the last date shall not be entertained. Applications must be accompanied by all relevant documents.. Incomplete applications will be rejected summarily.
