BIOINFORMATICS INDUSTRIAL TRAINING PROGRAMME (BIITP) 2010-11
On behalf of Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL) is coordinating a scheme of practical industrial training for B.Tech./ B.E./ M.Sc./ M.Tech./ Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Bioinformatics and BINC qualified students.
The students are placed for training in Bioinformatics & Biotechnology companies willing to impart practical training to these candidates. The training is for a period of six months during which every trainee is paid a stipend of Rs. 8000/- per month.
The company is also paid a bench fee to cover expenses towards training. This programme is mutually beneficial to the students and companies as it provides industrial exposure to the students and an opportunity for industry to select prospective manpower. This programme is advantageous for the companies as it gives them an opportunity to assess the performance of the trainees and subject to availability, suitable trainees could be considered for placement.
Important Instructions
To be read before filling-up the application form
1. Students with following qualifications only can apply: B.Tech./B.E./M.Sc./M.Tech./Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Bioinformatics and BINC qualified candidates.
2. Students with minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade at highest degree/diploma level are only eligible to apply.
3. Students who have completed their degree/diploma in the year 2008-2009 or 2009-2010 are only eligible to apply.
4. The Advanced Post Graduate diploma should be of at least one year duration after graduation.
5. Students whose result of last semester/final year is not declared can also apply mentioning their marks upto the semester/year upto which result declared. The final result with original mark sheet(s) of all the semesters/years will have to be produced at the time of interview.
6. The following documents are to be sent to Mr. Manoj Gupta, Deputy Manager, Biotech Consortium India Limited, 5th floor, Anuvrat Bhawan, 210, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg, New Delhi-110002:
a. A demand draft of Rs. 250/- in favour of “Biotech Consortium India Limited” payable at New Delhi towards non-refundable application fee. Please write your application ID, name, date of birth and mobile no. on the reverse side of the demand draft.
b. Copy of the system generated acknowledgement of the application form submitted online.
c. Attested photocopies of marksheets and certificates of highest degree/diploma. In case of Advanced post graduate diploma, marksheets/certificates of graduation/post graduation also need to be attached.
d. Students from DBT supported teaching programmes will have to send a certificate from their course coordinator/department head that their course is supported by Department of Biotechnology.
7. Students from Indian recognized universities can only apply.
8. The last date for submission of application is 31st March 2011.
9. The application would be accepted online only.
10. The online application form has to be filled within 20 minutes otherwise the page will expire.
11. It is mandatory to fill all fields.
12. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
13. Students under SC/ST/OBC/PH category will have to produce a certificate at the time of appearing for interview, if called.
14. Those who are already employed will not be eligible for training.
15. Students whose applications are found to be complete and eligible in all respects and are shortlisted will only be called for the interview. The list of the students called for interview will be displayed on the website along with venue, date and time. No individual intimation will be sent. Candidates appearing for the interview shall be paid to and for travelling expenses equivalent to 2nd class train fare by the shortest route, on production of tickets IN ORIGINAL. In case an outstation candidate appears for interview from a place other than as indicated in his/her original application, the reimbursement of fare would be limited to the place mentioned in application or place from where the candidate actually arrived, whichever is shorter.
16. Students called for interview will have to bring a copy of their dissertation work, if any.
17. Filling up this form does not guarantee training. The decision of the selection committee shall be final and binding. Training does not ensure permanent placement. Candidates interested in higher studies need not apply. Candidates will be required to join any bioinformatics/biotechnology company in India. Applications for change of location will not be entertained at any stage.
18. Students may send recommendations from companies where they are really interested to join for training. They would also be required to undergo the selection procedure. They can bring the recommendation letter from company while coming for the interview. However, the decision of the selection committee shall be final and binding.
19. Students selected for training will have to make their own arrangements for lodging & boarding. Students placed for training shall be paid stipend of Rs. 8000/- per month during the 6 months training period.
