A national workshop on Systems Biology is jointly organised by Dr. D.Y. Patil Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Institute, Pune and Cyborg Sapiens Bioinformatica,Mumbai on April 23,2011.
The Workshop
It’s the age of interdisciplinary science and Systems Biology is making waves in biological world. Every complex interaction depicting function and behaviour of a biological system, known to man can be dealt using the systems biology approach. Systems biology is useful in finding out drug targets and creating disease models with the help of available literatures. Interaction networks are created by characterizing drug targets and performing in-silico knock out or inhibition studies to get insights into the disease hence helping rediscover drug targets against dreadful diseases HIV, cancer, metabolic and neurological disorders.
Topics of the workshop:-
- Introduction to systems biology
- Mathematical modeling and systems biology
- Understanding principles of biochemical pathways through model building
- Modeling of networks using cell designer and Copasi.
