Hands-on Workshop on Biophysical and Biotechnological Research Techniques for Scientists and Scholars

25–27 July 2011

Anna University, Chennai

About the workshop: Applications are invited from research scholars, post-doctoral fellows and young scientist/faculties from universities and research laboratories with relevant research interests and background, for participation in the three-day “Hands-on Workshop” on techniques like Raman Spectroscopy (RS) [Renishaw, System 2000], Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) [VEECO, Bioscope-IIIA], Optical Tweezers (OT) and Patch-Clamp (PC) [AXO-patch 200B] setup used in Biophysical and Biotechnological Research, to be held during 25th – 27th July 2011 at AU-KBC Research Centre, M.I.T Campus of Anna University, Chennai. Although the workshop is primarily aimed at research scholars and postdoctoral fellows, final year PG students with interest in pursuing research in field of biotechnology, biophysics, bio-photonics etc. may also apply.

On the first day of the workshop, there would be 90 minutes class room lectures on each of the four instruments (RS, AFM, OT and PC) by experts drawn from reputed institutions. Each participant would then spend two days in the laboratory, 3 hours each on these four instruments, observing demos, performing hands-on experiments, interpreting the results, etc.
