Medical Research Specialist II, Grade 6
The Department of Biochemistry at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University, invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Medical Research Specialist II, Grade 6 (with salary and benefits similar to a postdoctoral fellow).
Job Summary: This position is for an enthusiastic applicant to work in the laboratory of Dr. Ahmed Hassan Al-Marzouqi in the Department of Biochemistry at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University. The research is focused on the various projects relating to how genes are controlled and what proteins play important roles in this regulation. Qualifications and Experience: The applicant should have either a Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of research experience or a Master’s degree with 3 years of research experience or preferably a PhD degree in any biomedical sciences discipline.
The applicant should have a strong background in molecular and cellular biology as well as biochemistry. Technical skills and hands-on experience in the major molecular biological procedures including PCR and RT-PCR, cloning, DNA/RNA extraction/manipulation, Southern/northern/western blotting, protein purification, protein/protein interactions (pull-downs, Co-IPs, etc.) and protein/DNA interactions (gel shifts, CHIPs, etc.), cellular biology (FACs analysis, etc.) would be an advantage. We are looking for a person who will interact broadly, both within the laboratory and with faculty members in the department who share a spirit of interaction and collaboration. We value independent critical thinking, candid discussion of all aspects of science, rigorous experimental work, and creative approaches to scientific problems.
General Conditions: In addition to the basic salary, increments and allowances are granted according to the rules and regulations of the University (total maximum salary of $50,000/year depending on the qualification and experience of the applicant). In addition to this, health insurance, children’s education, and annual ticket from UAE to the country of residence for the applicant, spouse and up to three children are also provided.
