Two Senior Research Fellow positions are open to work on DBT sponsored project “Understanding metal-ion transport in Mycobacteria”. If no suitable SRF candidates found, the position(s) would be downgraded to JRF.

Eligibility: MSc in Life Sciences, Chemistry or Physics.

Experience: Wet lab experience desirable for SRF, not mandatory for JRF.

Salary (SRF): 18,000 + 30 % HRA /month

Job Description: PCR cloning, membrane protein expression, purification, detergent optimization, liposome reconstitution, metal-ion translocation assays, crystallization, X-ray diffraction data collection, structure determination and analysis. Membrane expressing clones are available for a couple of transporters.

Application Deadline: 15th October 2011.

Duration of the project: 3 years (minimum of two years commitment preferred and PhD registration NOT possible).

Facilities available at ICGEB: State-of-the-art X-ray data collection, AKTA-Explorer for protein purification, robot for nano-volume crystallization, CD, DLS etc. A multi-detector array (RI+VIS+LS) for membrane protein characterization in solution will be in place soon.

To Apply: Send (1) a covering letter briefing your research interests and how you will fit into this project (2) a research proposal on membrane protein of your interest (please do not cut paste from internet) and (3) an updated CV (altogether not more than 5 pages) by e-mail (sam@icgeb.res.in) or regular mail to:
