Ph.D. studentship at Institute of Bioinformatics, Bangalore (http://www.ibioinformatics.org)
1. PhD studentship in the development of Human Signaling Pathways and Systems Biology Resources (5 positions)
Qualifications:
1) M.Sc. in any field of Life Sciences
2) Candidates must have secured JRF funding from CSIR-UGC, DBT, ICMR or BINC
3) Experience in signaling pathways, proteomic data analysis and curation is desired
We are seeking highly motivated individuals with an interest in the analysis of published information on human signaling pathways to develop specific signaling networks. Knowledge of molecular biology and sequence analysis is preferred. Preference will also be given to those already worked on similar projects in other companies/institutions. The selected individuals will be coauthors in scientific articles that emanate from their research.
Institute of Bioinformatics has developed systems biology resources of international repute including Human Protein Reference Database (published in NAR and Genome Research; cited by over 1000 research articles), Plasma Proteome Database (published in Proteomics), Human Proteinpedia (published in Nature Biotechnology), a resource for human signaling pathways-NetPath (published in Genome Biology), Pancreatic Cancer Biomarker Resource (published in PLos Medicine) and Resource for Asian Primary Immune Diseases (published in NAR). Besides developing resources, scientists at IOB performed a comparative genomic analysis of mouse and human X chromosomes and identified novel protein coding regions on the human X chromosome, which was published in Nature Genetics. Another study, also published in Nature Genetics, involved construction of largest interactome based on the protein-protein interaction data available in various protein databases.
Only candidates who can relocate to Bangalore need apply. Interested candidates should e-mail their detailed curriculum vitae to careers at ibioinformatics dot org with subject as "Ph.D. Studentship in Human Signaling Pathways". Short listed candidates will be called for an interview.
