Applications are invited for following purely project based temporary positions in this Institute. The projects provide opportunity to work in challenging research areas of Himalayan ecosystems.

Candidate having appropriate qualifications in relevant subject/specialization with consistently good academic record and experience may apply.

Project 1 (GBP-EW): Assessment and quantification of forest ecosystem services with special emphasis on pollination in the Indian Himalayan agro-ecosystems

Scientist Fellow (1)

Rs. 22,000 pm. + HRA; Higher emoluments (up to Rs. 30,000 pm) would be considered in case of exceptionally qualified & experienced persons.

Essential Qualification Doctoral Degree in Botany/Forestry/ Zoology/ Environmental Sciences/Economics from a recognized University.

Desirable Qualification Knowledge of computer; Data processing and scientific presentations; Good communication skills in English & Hindi

Nature of duties Coordinate a team of young researchers, overseas volunteers and other stakeholders for scientific data collection in project sites in various parts of Himalaya.

Rs. 12,000 pm+ HRA for (JRF) or Rs. 14,000 pm + HRA for SRF

Essential Qualification Masters Degree in Botany, Forestry, Forest Management, Biodiversity Conservation, and Environmental Sciences, Economics with minimum of 55% marks for JRF & 60% for SRF. (Minimum 2 year research experience for SRF

Desirable Qualification Experience of research work in Himalayan area on ecosystem services; natural resource accounting/economics; biodiversity conservation; ecological modeling and
RS/GIS; good communication skills in English/Hindi

Nature of duties Undertake extensive  field work in forests, grasslands and agro ecosystems of Western Himalaya.

Data collection, compilation and report writing

Project 2 (GBP-NNRMS): Inventorisation and Monitoring of Biosphere Reserves in India Using Remote Sensing and GIS Technology

Junior Research Fellow (1)

Rs. 12,000 pm. + HRA.

Essential Qualification Masters Degree in Botany, Forestry, Forest Management, Biodiversity Conservation, and Environmental Sciences with minimum of 55% marks.

Desirable Qualification Experience of research work in Himalayan area on forest ecosystem services; natural resource accounting/economics; biodiversity conservation; ecological modeling and RS/GIS

Nature of duties Undertake extensive field work in Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve (Uttarakhand). Data collection, compilation and report writing

Age Limit- For Scientist Fellow- 35 years, JRF-28 years, SRF-32 years, Research Attendant-45 years.

Age relaxation for SC/ST/Women/PH and OBC as per Govt. of India norms.

Appointment will be made initially for one year and likely to be continued for up to three years based on performance.
