TAXONOMY, EX SITU CONSERVATION AND BIOPROSPECTING OF FUNGI

Venue: Agharkar Research Institute, Pune

Department of Science and Technology (DST) sponsored National Facility for Culture Collection of Fungi will be conducting a national level workshop at Agharkar Research Institute, Pune. The aim of the workshop is to develop trained manpower in thrust areas of taxonomy (conventional and molecular), and ex situ conservation of fungi (incl. lichens). In addition, selected industrial application of fungi will also be covered during workshop.

Two week intensive theoretical and practical training will be provided to 15 young researchers (Ph.D./Post Doc Researchers/College and University Teachers/Ph.D. students, etc.). Applications duly endorsed by head of the department/institution enclosing bio-data, list of publication and one page write-up explaining relevance of the proposed workshop for the applicant’s future plans must reach to the following address latest by 10 May 2012.

After scrutinizing the applications selected candidates will be intimated to pay the workshop fee of Rs 5000. Selection will be solely at the discretion of the organizer and no further correspondence shall be entertained in this regard.
