Senior Research Associate, TCD / Ag Biotech Research / DKC
Job Description This position will be accountable for the planning and operation of trait performance evaluation of transgenic materials in both the greenhouse and multiple field locations. The person will be site in charge for field trials at specific locations and be responsible for activities ranging from trial design and layout, through trial execution and data collection to activities needed to document all aspects of regulated trial compliance across testing sites.
Responsibilities Management and execution of greenhouse and field evaluation of trait efficacy at multiple locations.
Oversee phenotypic characterization and data collection related trait efficacy and whole plant performance while monitoring plant health and nutritional needs.
Assist Trait and Field Trait Performance Leads in planning and executing trait efficacy studies for all Stage C and D projects.
Monitor and oversee field and document all compliance related activities to insure full compliance with all established company and regulatory protocols while promoting a total safety culture.
Work with functional leads from all relevant functional areas to achieve the proper balance of internal and external vendor resources to cost effectively execute and manage trials
Assists local functional and project management leadership by providing technical input into broader project planning issues and resource needs that will positively impact trial operations and outcomes.
Allocation of available personnel and resources to effectively manage simultaneous ongoing trials operating in multiple locations.
In collaboration with Agronomy Lead, make agronomy/pest management, irrigation management, rouging, and harvest management decisions to ensure best outcomes for trials.
Desired Profile
Skills and Competencies: Good working knowledge of general rice field trial practices and operations, good written and oral communications skills, keen powers of observation regarding plant health, strong computer skills, works well in cross functional team environment.
Functional (Technical) Competencies: Agronomy knowledge, field trial design and planning plant health knowledge, and operation, plant disease and pest management, strong computer skills, good working knowledge of plant genetics statistical analysis methodologies.
Core Competencies: Sustainable customer relationships, innovation, building winning teams, communicating with impact.
Experience: Minimum of 6 years of working industry experience with rice field agronomy or breeding.
Qualifications: Master of Science degree in agriculture, agronomy, plant breeding or related field.
