Admissions open for M.Sc Biotechnology & B.Sc Biotechnology (Hons.) session 2012-13 at GLA University, Mathura Established vide UP. Act 21 of 2010

Department of Biotechnology at GLA University, Mathura offers B.Sc Honors and M.Sc in Biotechnology. The department also offers Ph.D in Biotechnology and Microbiology.

The great emphasis is laid not only on teaching but also practical in all the core subjects of Biotechnology, so as to build a strong base. Students are motivated and guided to keep themselves abreast with the latest developments for which the guest lectures by eminent personalities from the National & International research institutes and academia are organized.

The department has a number of well equipped laboratories; the prominent fact that set apart the department is that students do experiments by their own. Different Laboratory manuals have been prepared in-house for this purpose.

The department has all the latest required instruments, needed to carry out various experiments of cell biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetic engineering, microbiology and immunology etc.

Main instruments are UV-Spectroscope, ELISA Reader, Laminar Air Flows, Fermentor, PCR, Protein Gel Documentation System, Centrifuges, Deep Freezers, Plant Tissue Culture Chambers, and other conventional instruments.

Giving due consideration to Bioinformatics in Biotechnology teaching and research, a Bioinformatics lab with high end computer facility and bioinformatics software (ClustalW, Ras Mol,Phylip etc. ) is also available in the department , where students learns Bioprogramming using perl and biological database searching tasks.

Eligibility Criteria: for M.Sc program, B.Sc. (Biotech.) or B.Sc. (Life Science) with minimum 50% marks and for B.Sc program, 10+2 with Biology and minimum 50% marks. 5% relaxation for SC/ST Candidates in both the courses

Steps to be followed for Admission in these courses:

  1. Candidates seeking admission in these courses have to register themselves on http://www.attest.co.in/gla/Home/Instruction.aspx for online entrance test.
  2. Candidates are also required to pay an entrance fee of Rs.500/- during the process of registration. This fee can be paid either through Demanded Draft or Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking.
  3. Candidate should have following details ready with them before starting online registration process.

ü Basic Details like Name, Address, Email ID, Telephone No., and Course Applying for etc.

ü Details of qualifying exams like exam passed, year of passing, percentage, board, roll no., subjects etc.

ü Details for payment of Entrance Test Fee: if paying by DD then DD No., MICR No., Date of DD and if payment is through Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking then related details.

OFFLINE REGISTRATION PROCESS:

Candidates who can not opt for online registration process for any reason can also register themselves through off-line registration process.

  1. Download the off-line entrance registration form from http://www.gla.ac.in/glau/download/Admission%20Request%20Form.pdf .
  2. Get a print of it and fill it completely.
  3. Attach a Demand Draft of Rs.500/- in favour of "GLA UNIVERSITY" payable at "VRINDAVAN", along with the dully filled form.
  4. Send the complete form along with DD at the university campus address in an envelope marking "Off-line Entrance Registration for
    B. Tech/ B. Pharm/ BBA/ B.Com.(H)/ BCA/ B.Sc.(Biotech.)/ MBA/ MCA/ M.Sc.(Biotech.)", either through post or by hand. Address of the university campus is given at the bottom of this page.
  5. University official will update you about the future course of action, within 7 working days of receiving the form.
