Programme Content
The tool box of IP and various types of IP rights
The international framework for the protection of IP
Protection of biotechnology inventions under patent law
Databases of technical and patent information in R&D
Methods to read, interpret and assess the IP documents
PVP systems and the nature of Plant Breeder's Rights (PBR) systems
IP as a factor in research and development
Negotiation of research contracts with commercial partners
Management and practical use of IP rights, including licensing and enforcement
Programme Methodology The programme will consist of a blend of lectures, self-exploration instruments, case analysis, experimental learning, and group discussion. The programme will provide excellent opportunities for mutual interaction and information sharing among the participants.
Eligibility R&D scientists engaged in agricultural biotechnology/members of ITMU/ZTMCs in ICAR system/ personnel in BPD/ personnel working with portfolio of issues on IP or technology transfer in any R&D group including scientific researchers, public
research institutions, commercial research institutions, business people, industry associations, academics, lawyers, policy makers, individuals engaged in biotechnology research or teaching and those with an interest in biotechnology and
intellectual property.
