National Workshop on Intellectual Property Right with reference to Patents and Copyrights

Information explosion world over in general and intellectual resources in particular both in print and electronic format have posed serious concern among the writers, intellectuals and creators of these resources with regard to IPR, Copyright and Patents. The rights of the intellectual creators need to be fully protected under these laws which are in force in many countries including India. The Library & Information Professionals dealing with the intellectual resources in different forms, such as print material films, video cassettes, arts and paintings and other types of non-print materials are of no exception. Further, the industrial and technological innovations have compelled many countries including USA to think for patent laws in which these creations and innovations are fully protected. Therefore, it is a great concern for the Scientists, Industrialists, Knowledge Managers, Library &Information Professionals and other scientific and scholarly community to be more aware with IPR, Copyright and Patent Laws. It is in this context a National Workshop is being organized by the Department of Library & Information Science, Mizoram University to appraise and make aware of these legal issues associated with intellectual resources, industrial and technological innovated products.
The said Workshop is open for participation by the academics and researchers in the field of Library & Information Professionals and other Scientific community. The interested participants are requested to download the Registration Form and send it to the undersigned latest by 31 July 2012. The selected participants (around 30) shall be informed well in advance and free registration and local hospitalities will be provided only to the selected participants. No TA/DA shall be provided to the registered participants.
This National Workshop is coinciding with the ten years completion of our department (2002-2012) and the birth anniversary of Dr S R Ranganathan. It is requested that the interested participants may register and the selection will be made on first come first serve basis.
