inStem Workshop on Mouse Embryology
March 10 - 23, 2013
At Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine (inStem)
The use of mouse genetic approaches is beginning to grow rapidly in India. The main goal of this workshop (aside from discussing exciting science!) is to bolster and accelerate this trend.
The Workshop includes a Symposium and a Practical Course. The Symposium is intended to provide an up to date review of some of the exciting advances in mouse embryology, presented within a broad historical perspective. The Symposium will be followed by a Practical Course aimed to provide complete hands-on experience in mouse genetic techniques.

There are two components in the workshop:
- Symposium (10th to 12th March 2013) : Open for 150 registered participants.
- Practical Course (13th to 23rd March 2013) : Open for 10 registered participants and selection will be done based on abstracts, research statements and letters of support.
Small number of participants is to ensure individual attention from instructors and complete hands-on experience to all trainees of the practical course.
If you want to apply ONLY to the Symposium, and NOT for the practical course, Click here.
If you want to apply for the Practical course, Click here.
If you are selected for the Practical course, you’ll be automatically registered for the Symposium. In the event you are not selected for the practical course, your application will be automatically considered for the Symposium.
Therefore, if you apply for the practical course, DO NOT apply for the symposium separately.
Deadline : Submit abstract by 16 December 2012

Symposium
The symposium will start on Sunday 10th March 2013 in the afternoon and end on 12th evening. There will be a poster session on Monday 11th evening.
The symposium is intended to provide an up to date review of some of the exciting advances in mouse embryology, presented within a broad historical perspective. The symposium is open to 150 participants. Participants will be selected on the basis of a short abstract of their research interests. We will attempt to have a balanced representation in terms of geography and career stages, but with a slight emphasis towards those in the early stages of their career (graduate students, postdocs and young PIs).
Program:
The detailed program for the symposium will be updated soon. Broadly, research in the following areas will be covered:
- Embryonic stem cells as well as germ cells
- Pre-implantation mouse development
- Post-implantation mouse development
- Tissue patterning and organogenesis
- Mouse models of human diseases
