The research activities are focused on four core areas:
molecular recognition of carbohydrates,
interaction of biomolecules with light,
directed intracellular processes,
as well as directed shape changes of tissues.
Research will be done in a stimulating, highly multidisciplinary and international
environment, centered at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces and its partner institutes in Potsdam and Berlin.
Doctoral students accepted in this program will receive a fellowship from one of the
participating institutions.
