A Refresher Course on ‘Traditional and Modern Approaches in Animal Taxonomy’ for college/university teachers and research students, will be held at Botanical Garden and Herbarium, University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK Campus, Bangalore from 15 to 29 April 2013.
This Course is aimed at giving the participants a hands-on training on all aspects of museum methodology, maintenance and principles of taxonomy including molecular and cladistics aspects. A variety of teaching methods like lectures, discussions, field and museum work focussing on diverse aspects will facilitate their research and teaching programmes. The Course will also help the participants to gain and sharpen their skills in both traditional and modern aspects of taxonomy. The skills thus gained will help them become better researchers and teachers. The Course will consist of 2–3 lectures everyday followed by equal duration of practicals/demonstrations/hands-on training.
Teachers and research students practising taxonomic work who wish to participate in the Refresher Course may send their application on plain paper with following details: name, age, date of birth, gender, e-mail, official and residential address, telephone and mobile numbers, academic qualifications starting from B.Sc., teaching/research experience (current research activities), courses taught, positions held and a statement indicating the reason for their interest in participation and their expectations from the Course. (Please do not send your entire bio-data.) Only twenty-five candidates will be selected.
Selected candidates will be provided local hospitality and round trip actual bus/train fare (3-tier AC) by the shortest route.
