ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Molecular biology deals with the processes occurring in cells such as replication, transcription and translation of genetic material at molecular level. Molecular biology provide a background for further studies in the rapidly expanding areas of genomics, biotechnology, diagnostics, and therapeutics. Molecular biology techniques help in understanding the interactions between different molecules such as DNA, RNA and Proteins in a cell which are key factors in understanding the life process. Molecular biology techniques are used extensively in modern day drug discovery and development. These techniques are used in the study of molecular biology and are now being combined with technologies such as amplification of genes, cloning and expression, isolation and characterization of gene products. Relationships have also been established with computational biology and bioinformatics in addition to many other branches of biology.
The techniques in molecular biology have developed and are now able to isolate the molecular components of cells. Some of these components that have been isolated and manipulated includes DNA, RNA and proteins. This informative workshop is beneficial for personnel involved with or participating in molecular biology-related and biotechnological research, supervision, scale-up or manufacturing, other technical operations, or basic/applied research. The workshop will focus on selected aspects of molecular biology that provides principles for understanding the structure and functional relationships of biomolecules. Multiple modern day molecular biology techniques in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries will be presented and several examples of molecular applications will be highlighted.
1. Real-Time PCR
2. 2D Electrophoresis
3. Primer Designing and Protein Database & Sequence Alignment
