Applications are invited for the following one post of Assistant Professor (Molecular Plant Pathology) and two posts of Senior Technical Assistants to work in the ICAR Sponsored Research Project on “All India Co-ordinated Pearl Millet Improvement Project” (AICPMIP)- Downy Mildew Research Laboratory (DMRL)- Mysore Center operating at the Department. The Post is purely on temporary basis and tenable up to 31st March 2013 OR till the end of the Project, whichever is earlier.

Essential Qualifications:

For Assistant Professor: M.Sc., with minimum of 60% marks in Botany/ Applied Botany/Agriculture/ Biotechnology. Ph.D degree related to the Plant Sciences with thesis work in the area of molecular plant pathology/ Molecular Genetics & Plant Breeding.

Desirable: M. Phil. in Seed Technology, research publications in the related area.

For Senior Technical Assistant: M.Sc. in Botany/ Applied Botany/ Agriculture/ Biotechnology/Microbiology with I Class and specialization in Plant Pathology/ Plant Breeding/ Genetics/ Plant Biotechnology.

Desirable: M. Phil. in Seed Technology, research publications in the related area.

Nature of Work:

For Assistant Professor: The selected candidate has to take the responsibility of organizing molecular biology work aspects of host-pathogen interaction in pearl millet downy mildew pathogen and to work on the molecular genetics of downy mildew resistance. The selected candidate has to take the responsibility of maintaining the ICAR-AICPMIP-DMRL Experimental Plot, Screening for Downy Mildew Resistance in Pearl Millet lines. The candidate should also take the responsibility assigned by the Principal Investigator from time to time.

For Senior Technical Assistant: The selected candidate has to take the responsibility of maintaining the ICAR-AICPMIP-DMRL Experimental Plot, Screening for Downy Mildew Resistance in Pearl Millet lines, maintaining of different pathotypes of downy mildew pathogen in the greenhouse and in the tissue culture system and assist in research and development activities connected with Biology, Epidemiology and Disease Management of Host-Pathogen Interaction. The candidate should also take the responsibility assigned by the Principal Investigator from time to time.

Emoluments:
Assistant Professor: In the pay scale of Rs. 15600-39100 + AGP 6000 with other allowances as per University rules.
Senior Technical Assistant: In the pay scale of Rs. 10000-250-10500-300-12300-350-14400- 400-16800-450-18150 with other allowances as per University rules.
