To carryout R&D in the area of glycobiology in relation to food science & technology and sustain strong independent research programme and impart training in the area of glycobiology.

CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute is a premier Research Institution under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (C.S.I.R), New Delhi and is engaged in research and development in the field of Food Science and Food Technology. R&D Departments of CSIR-CFTRI include Biochemistry & Nutrition, Fermentation Technology & Bioengineering, Flour Milling, Baking & Confectionary Technology, Food Engineering, Food Microbiology, Food Packaging Technology, Food Protectants & Infestation Control, Food Safety & Analytical Quality Control Laboratory, Fruit & Vegetable Technology, Grain Science & Technology, Lipid Science & Traditional Foods, Meat Fish & Poultry Technology, Plant Cell Biotechnology, Plantation Products, Spices & Flavour Technology, Protein Chemistry & Technology, Sensory Science and other related basic areas with well qualified and experienced Scientists, Engineers and Technologists. The efforts of these R&D Departments are complimented by support Departments and Resource Centres spread over the Country. An advanced Central Instrumentation Facility with all the modern instruments required for Biological Sciences and a Pilot Plant equipped with state-of-the-art equipments and an excellent Library are also part of the infrastructure.

II. BENEFITS UNDER CSIR SERVICE :

The posts carry usual allowances i.e., DA, HRA, Transport Allowance etc. as admissible to Central Government Employees stationed at Mysore.CSIR Scientists are entitled for Professional Update Allowance per annum as per Grades / positions. HRA will not be admissible if Council accommodation is provided.
Scientists in the Pay Band -3 with Grade Pay of Rs. 6600/- and Rs. 7600/- will be entitled to two additional increments p.m. (without DA).
In addition to the emoluments indicated against each category of Posts, benefits such as reimbursement of Medical Expenses, Leave Travel Concession, Conveyance Advance and House Building Advance are available as per rules of CSIR.
All New Entrants will be governed by the "New Pension Scheme" based on defined contributions for new entrants recruited in Central Government Services on or after 1-1-2004, as adopted by CSIR for its employees. However, persons selected from other Government Departments/Autonomous Bodies/Public Sector Undertakings/Central Universities having Pension Scheme on GoI pattern will continue to be governed by existing Pension Scheme, i.e. CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972.
A Scientific Staff of the Institute can augment his income with sharing of earnings by way of honorarium/Intellectual Fees from Consultancy / Technical Services and R&D sponsored projects undertaken by the Institute.

III. OTHER STAFF AMENITIES AT CSIR-CFTRI :
The Institute has adequate infrastructure not only to develop the professional career of the individual but also facilities such as Staff Club, Swimming Pool and avenues for promotion of extra curricular activities. A reputed School is also functioning to provide the educational needs of the children of staff members up to matriculation level right from lower kindergarten. The Health Centre looks after minor and urgent medical needs of the staff and their dependent family members.

IV. UPPER AGE LIMIT AND RELAXATIONS :

The date for determining the upper age limit, qualifications and/or experience shall be the closing date prescribed for applying online i.e., 16-04-2013.
Relaxation of 5 years will also be admissible to those who had ordinarily been domiciled in the Kashmir division of the State of Jammu and Kashmir during the period from January 1, 1980 to December 31, 1989 subject to production of relevant Certificate from the concerned Authority.
Relaxation of age is admissible for the reserved posts
- Upto 5 years in case of Candidates belonging to SC/ST Community
- Upto 3 years in case of Candidates belonging to OBC Community
Relaxation of upper age limit for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and Ex-Servicemen as per Government of India Orders as per GoI rules.
Relaxation of age upto five years is permissible in case of candidates working in CSIR/Autonomous Bodies / Government/ Public Sector Undertakings.

V. GENERAL CONDITIONS :

Only Indian Nationals need to apply.
The educational qualifications should have been obtained from a recognized University(ies)/educational Institution(s)/Board(s).
In case, a candidate claims a particular qualification as equivalent as per requirement of the advertisement, the candidate should submit / produce / provide necessary order / letter, indicating the authority under which it has been treated. Otherwise, the application is liable to be rejected.
Positioning of a candidate in terms of a particular grade (Grade Pay) in the Pay Band shall be done by the Selection Committee, based on the qualifications, experience, age limit etc.
The period of experience in a discipline / area of work where prescribed shall be counted with effect from the date of acquiring the prescribed minimum educational qualification for that Group / Grade.
The appointment will be in CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), which is an Autonomous Body. The selected Candidates may be posted either at the Headquarters of the Institute at Mysore or at any of its Resource Centres at Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Lucknow. Out of Nine (9) positions of Scientists, one (1) position, i.e Post Code : 4206 is earmarked for NInC Cluster at Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. The appointees are also liable to be posted in any of the Laboratories / Institutes of CSIR situated anywhere in India as and when required.
Applications from employees working in CSIR, Government Departments, Public Sector Organizations, Autonomous Institutions and Government-funded research agencies will be considered only if forwarded through proper channel and with a clear certificate that the applicant will be relieved within one month of the receipt of the appointment orders. However candidates can send an advance copy along with necessary application fee (wherever applicable) before the last date for receipt of completed application forms.
Mere fulfilling of minimum prescribed qualifications and experience will not vest any right on a candidate for being called for Test / Interview. A duly constituted Screening Committee shall screen the applications received for the post for short-listing the candidates to be called for Test / Interview. The candidate should therefore mention in the application all the qualification and experiences in the relevant field over and above the minimum prescribed qualification supported with documents. The Institute reserves the right to call for interview, only those candidates who in its opinion are likely to be suitable and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
Screening/Short-listing of applications will be done on the basis of information furnished in the Online application form by the candidate. Therefore, it is necessary that only accurate, full and correct information is furnished by the candidate. Furnishing of wrong/false information will be disqualification and CSIR-CFTRI will not be responsible for any consequences of furnishing such wrong/false information.
Outstation candidates called for interview will be reimbursed Travelling Allowance as per rules i.e., to and fro single second class rail fare / ordinary bus fare from the normal place of their residence or from the actual place of undertaking the journey, whichever is nearer to the place of interview, provided the original/Xerox copies of the tickets are produced.
CSIR-CFTRI reserves the right not to fill up any/ all the posts, if it so desires. The number of vacancies indicated above are provisional and may vary at the time of actual Selection.
Candidates applying for more than one post should submit separate online Applications for each post.
An Application Fee of Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) is payable separately for each post (Candidates belonging to SC/ST community, Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and regular employees of CSIR are exempted from payment of application fee) in the form of Demand Draft valid for a period of atleast 3 months from the last date for receipt of applications. Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of the Director, CSIR-CFTRI payable at Mysore.
Candidates of Indian origin settled abroad who are of proven merit as evidenced by their research work, if found suitable for the post may be considered by the Selection Committee, in absentia, on request.
Application (i) not accompanied with prescribed application fee, (ii) without the requisite information asked for in the Application Format; and (iii) received after the due date will not be considered. Incomplete applications will be outrightly rejected.
The relaxation in age limit, qualifications and / or experience may be considered only in case of exceptionally meritorious candidates with the approval of the competent authority.
The qualification prescribed should have been obtained from recognized Universities/ Institutions/ Technical Boards in the areas mentioned against each posts.
Marks awarded under OGPA/CGPA system or under letter grade system should be converted to equivalent of percentage and indicated in the application form along with supportive documents for such conversion, failing which the decision with regard to arriving at the percentage by the Institute will be binding on the candidates.

2. Attested copy of matriculation or equivalent certificate with mark sheet.
3. Attested copy of Mark lists of Degree / Diploma and certificate issued by the concerned authority.
4. Attested copy of caste certificate issued by competent authority in respect of SC/ST/OBC candidates. In case of OBC candidates, the OBC certificate should be in the format prescribed by Government of India.

Applications received after the due date and applications that are incomplete are liable to be rejected.
Applications without any of the relevant documents mentioned at Sl.No.21 are liable to be rejected.
Candidates should specially note that the applications received after the closing date for any reason whatsoever, will not be entertained by CSIR-CFTRI. Any enclosure received separately subsequent to the receipt of the application cannot be connected therewith. No correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
