ADMISSION NOTICE 2013-2014
All India Competitive Examination for Admission to Ph.D. Programme for the Academic Session 2013-2014 commencing from 01.08.2013 will be held on 7th July, 2013 & viva - voce / interview for the qualified candidates will be held on 8th July, 2013 at Mumbai only.

* In addition, two Seats are reserved for Migrants from the State of Jammu & Kashmir.
One seat for Physically Handicapped will be allotted horizontally against the category (Gen/SC/ST/OBC) to which they belong.
N.B.: The candidate should opt for any one of the discipline and he/she is required to appear for the entrance test in the same discipline. Option once exercised cannot be changed under any condition.
Number of seats are tentative and likely to be changed without prior notice. Seat(s) remaining vacant on account of non availability of suitable candidates in a particular discipline, the vacant seat(s) will be allotted to another discipline and filled up from eligible candidates. The decision of the Admission Committee / Vice-Chancellor will be final in this regard.
Separate entrance test will be conducted for different disciplines.
For Reserved Categories seats are reserved for first category. In case suitable candidate is not found from that category then seat will be filled through the other reserved category and in case a candidate of reserved category is not found suitable, the seat will be treated as vacant. Reservation for OBC Category would be provided as per the Government of India / ICAR instructions issued from time to time. There is a provision for admitting in-service candidates from ICAR Institutes/ SAUs/ CAU/State Fisheries Departments. In-service candidates will be required to qualify in the Written Entrance Test. The candidates with CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/ICAR-SRF fellowship and any other national level fellowship will be admitted over and above the allotted seats.
GENERAL ELIGIBILITY: B.F.Sc. & M.F.Sc. (4 +2 yrs) or B.Sc & M.Sc. (3 yrs) from CIFE (till 1995), with OGPA 7.5 out of 10 and 3.75 out of 5 for General/OBC candidates and OGPA for SC/ST candidates is 7.00 out of 10 and 3.50 out of 5. (OR) D.F.Sc. provided candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in biological science and has two years of experience in fisheries development work after obtaining D.F.Sc.
In case of sponsored candidates, those holding M.Sc. in Fish and Fisheries and related disciplines with at least two years experience in Fisheries development work are also eligible to apply.

AGE LIMIT :The minimum age for admission shall be 22 years as on 31st July 2013. No relaxation in minimum age is permitted.
FELLOWSHIP: There is a provision for awarding Institutional Fellowship to selected candidates @ Rs.10,500/- per month and Rs.3000/- per month to the
in-service candidates from ICAR Institutes/ SAUs/ CAUs but there is no provision for Institutional Fellowship for the selected candidates from State Fisheries Department.
The Information Bulletin and Application form may be obtained from the office of the Senior Registrar, Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Panch Marg, Off. Yari Road, Mumbai – 400061 by submitting a Bank Draft of Rs.350/- for sending the same by post drawn in favor of “ICAR Unit, CIFE, Mumbai” payable at SBI, Versova, Mumbai or against cash payment at PG Section against Rs.300/-. The application form and information bulletin can also be downloaded from CIFE website: http//www.cife.edu.in. However, such application shall be submitted along with the Demand Draft for Rs.300/- as mentioned above.
