GB Pant Institute Recruits Project Coordinator/Field Researchers and Staff

Applications are invited for the following project-based purely temporary/contractual positions under an ICIMOD-sponsored project entitled “Kailash Sacred Landscape Conservation and Development Initiative (KSLCDI)”. The positions are for: (A) Project Coordination Cell (Code- PCC) and (B) Field Research (Code –FRS). Initially these positions are up-to December 2013 (will be extended on case to case basis considering the performance).

A: Positions for Project Coordination Cell (PCC)

Project Coordinator (PC) -01 [ Emoluments - @ Rs 55,000/Month fixed; In case of exceptionally deserving candidate further negotiable]

- Max 50 years [in case of experienced and exceptionally deserving candidate relaxation in age can be given]
- Masters degree in Life/ Environment / Social Sciences or Resource/Environment/Business management, with consistently good academic record.

- Over 10 years working experience in areas related to natural resource assessment/monitoring/management or resource mobilization, capacity development, other supports to overall project initiation,

• Liaison and coordination with national and international partners;

• Ensure balance and linkages among different project components, stakeholders, both vertically and horizontally;

• Facilitate effective

Implementation, Planning and Monitoring of KSLCDI Activities (effective coordination with the manpower employed for field activities);

• Prepare Annual Plans (financial and physical) for subsequent years for implementation;

• Organize programme- oriented events, workshops, conferences, seminars involving diverse stakeholders (as per the need of log frame);

• Liaison with various development agencies/NGOs/Institutions in the target landscape for convergence with other ongoing programmes/projects;

• Ensure timely reporting of

• Experience of Multiinstitutional national/international project management. (experience of overseas business management will be considered as an added advantage).

• Experience of working in remote Mountainous areas and with rural communities
• Good communication skills; and computer knowledge.

B- Positions for Field Researchers and Staff (FRS)

FRS-01 Field Coordinator (FC) -01 [Emoluments - @ Rs 42,000/Month fixed; In case of exceptionally deserving candidate further negotiable

- Max 40 years [in case of experienced and exceptionally deserving candidate relaxation in age can be given]
- Masters degree in Life/ Environment / Social Sciences with consistently good academic records.
• Coordinate the field R&D activities;
• Maintain the field camp office and facilitate proper liaison with PCC;
• Compile, analysis and synthesis of field data/information;
• Report preparation and timely submission to the PCC;
• Facilitate field activities of other partners;
• Organize local field level events as per the logframe
• Doctoral degree in relevant subject;
• Experience of working in remote

Mountainous areas/with rural communities
• Experience of data compilation/analysis and synthesis and proven record of scientific writing.

• Good communication skills; and computer knowledge.

FRS-02 Researcher Level II (RS II) -02 [Emoluments - @ Rs 18,000/Month fixed; in case of candidates with doctoral degree in relevant subject @ Rs 22,000/month fixed]

- Max 35 years
- First Class Masters degree in Life (zoology/botany/forestry/biodiversity) / Environmental Sciences with consistently good academic records.
- At least 2 years working experience (R&D) in areas of forest/grassland ecology/ecosystem services/resource assessment and monitoring
• Conduct the field R&D activities;
• Generate, analysis and synthesis of field data/ information;
• Report preparation and timely submission to the FC;
• Experience of working in remote

Mountainous areas/with rural communities

• Experience of data compilation/analysis and synthesis and proven record of scientific writing.
• Good communication skills; and computer knowledge.

FRS-03 Researchers Level I (RS I) -04 [Emoluments - @ Rs 12,000/Month fixed]

- Max 28 years
- First Class Masters degree in Life (zoology/botany/forestry/biodiversity)/ Social/ Earth Sciences/space technology (RG/GIS) with consistently good academic records.
• Conduct extensive field R&D activities;
• Generate, analysis and synthesis of field data/information;
• Report preparation and timely submission to the FC;
• Good communication skills and computer knowledge.

*Relaxation in age for SC/ST/OBC/PH/Women candidates as per the GoI norms

Mode of Application: Desirous candidates, fulfilling required qualification and experience, are encouraged to submit their applications in prescribed format  (Enclosed below – Annexure I) along with a copy of CV and self-attested copies of

The short listed candidates may be called for interview/personal discussion or may be contacted over phone for personal discussion, as decided by the Competent Authority of the Institute. Fulfilling minimum qualification does not qualify a candidate to be called for interview. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
