REGIONAL MEDICAL RESEARCH CENTRE (ICMR) BELGAUM
Applications are invited in the prescribed format for the following purely temporary project posts for ICMR Task Force Project entitled “Second Phase of Biomedical Informatics Centres of ICMR” in Bioinformatics Centre, Regional Medical Research Centre, Nehru Nagar, Belgaum – 590 010.
1. Post: Scientist II (Bioinformatics) – One post
Essential Qualification:
1) 1st class M.Sc (Bioinformatics). OR
B.Tech. (Bioinformatics) from a recognized University with 2 years of experience or equivalent degree from a recognized University. OR
2nd Class M.Sc. + PhD in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology or related Discipline 2) Four years of research experience after obtaining essential qualification given in point (1) above.
Age Limit: Not exceeding 40 years. Relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC candidates in accordance with the instructions issued by the department of Personnel and Training from time to time in this regard.
Desirable Qualifications:
1) Experience in handling and analyzing Next-Generation Sequencing data.
2) Experience in scripting language (PERL/PYTHON etc).
3) Experience in conceptualizing and executing collaborative/independent research projects.
4) Additional Post doctoral research/teaching experience in Computer Science in recognized institute(s).
Duties/Responsibilities:
1) Work on research projects available at Bioinformatics Centre.
2) Help in developing projects related to Epigenomics and other areas of Biomedical Informatics.
3) Actively communicate with medical researchers from regional medical research institutes and medical colleges and initiate collaborative projects.
4) Help in task-force activities such as organizing meetings, training programs, preparing minutes, background documents reports, budget etc.
NOTE: PhD or MD in relevant subject shall be treated equivalent to three years of experience. Candidates with PhD or MD or M. Tech degree will be preferred. Salary: Consolidated Salary of Rs. 38,184/- pm + HRA, as admissible
2. Post: Scientist I (Herbal Medicine) – One post
Essential Qualifications: 1) 1st class M.Sc (Botany / Medicinal Plants / Bioinformatics) OR
BAMS from a recognized University with 2 years of experience or equivalent degree from a recognized University OR
2nd Class M.Sc. /BAMS + PhD/ MD in the above subjects
Desirable Qualifications:
1) Doctorate or MD/ Degree in Botany/ Medicinal Plants/ Dravyaguna from a recognized University.
2) Research/teaching experience in relevant subjects in recognized institute(s) with publications.
3) Knowledge of medicinal plants / Ayurveda.
4) Knowledge of Computer Applications.
Age Limit: Not exceeding 35 years. Relax-able up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC candidates in accordance with the instructions issued by the department of Personnel and Training from time to time in this regard.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1) Developing databases for intramural as well as extramural activities/projects of Bioinformatics Centre, especially pertaining to herbal medicines/ medicinal plants.
2) Help in task-force activities such as organizing meetings, training programs, preparing minutes, background documents reports, budget etc.
NOTE: PhD or MD in relevant subject shall be treated equivalent to three years of experience. Salary: Consolidated Salary of Rs. 36,120/- pm+ HRA, as admissible
3. Post: Research Assistant (Bioinformatics) - One post
Essential Qualifications:
1) Three years Graduate Degree in Computer Sciences/Bioinformatics, with two years experience. OR
Three years Graduate Degree in above subjects with two years diploma in relevant discipline from a recognized University/Institute.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. M.Tech / M.Sc. in (Bioinformatics / Computer Sciences).
2. Laboratory experience in Molecular Biology techniques/ Development of database of medicinal plants.
Age Limit: Not exceeding 35 years. Relax-able up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC candidates in accordance with the instructions issued by the department of Personnel and Training from time to time in this regard. Duties/Responsibilities: To undertake computer and laboratory work and assist in coordination of research activities. Salary: Consolidated Salary of Rs. 23,220/- pm. The Terms & Conditions for the post are as follows:
1. The post is to be filled up only on purely temporary basis.
2. Duration of appointment is for one year initially. It may be extended upto 5 years with periodical evaluation.
3. Appointees will be co-terminated with the termination of the project anytime. It may also be terminated from either side at any point during the tenure of the project with one month’s notice.
4. Since the post is purely temporary, the incumbents selected will have no claim for regular appointments under ICMR or continuation of his/her services in any other project.
5. Benefits of provident fund, CCA, Leave Travel Concession, Medical Claim etc. are not applicable.
6. Age relaxation is for SC, ST & OBC candidates as per Govt. Rules. Age relaxation may be considered for deserving and highly qualified experienced person on the recommendation of selection committee.
7. No TA/DA etc. will be given to attend the Interview or joining of post and candidate should make his / her own arrangement for stay for written test / interview and joining of post.
8. Qualification and experience should be from a reputed and recognized organization.
9. Experience will be counted only after completion of minimum educational qualification.
10. Mere fulfilling the essential qualification does not guarantee call for interview and selection.
11. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
12. Persons already in regular time scale service under any Government Department/ Organizations are not eligible to apply.
13. Consolidated salary of each post may be revised as per ICMR instructions.
14. Separate application should be submitted for each post in the prescribed format.
15. PhD or MD degree in subjects relevant to Indian Council of Medical research shall be treated equivalent to three years experience respectively.
The candidates fulfilling essential and desirable qualifications and experience and agreeable to the terms and conditions are requested to send their application in prescribed format with attested copies of all relevant certificates and mark sheets to Director-in-Charge, Regional Medical Research Centre, Nehru Nagar, Belgaum 590010 on or before 30/04/2013.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for written test and interview by e-mail and SMS. The candidate selected after tests and interview will work in the project mentioned above and on such work that may be assigned by the Principal Investigator/Director-in-Charge from time to time. The posts are contractual and purely temporary till the duration of the project. Consolidated salary mentioned may be revised and may vary. Initially the appointment will be for a period of one year, may be extended. The selected candidates will be governed by the rules applicable to ICMR project staff. They will have no claim for regular appointment under ICMR. Benefits of Provident Fund, CCA, Leave Travel Concession, Medical claim etc. are not admissible.
